Each computer(data terminal) transmits data in a selected data rate(for example: 1.1-19.2 kbps).
this is the rate that it transmits data to the modem.
But, each modem has another data rate that it uses to transmit to the line(to the second modem), normally in a sychronous modem the data rate is much higher than the data rate of the terminal.
Why are there two different data rates?
if the comuter will transmit in 19.2 kbps and the modem will transmit for example in 2.048 mbps, what would happen with that extra data rate that is not being used.

I have 2 shortcuts on the following share: \\suns\public\publicdesktop\*.lnk and I need them to be placed on all user's desktop upon logging onto my domain. Here is my logon script (userlogon.bat):

@echo off

net use g: /delete
net use p: /delete

net use g: \\suns\groups
net use p: \\suns\public

@copy \\Suns\public\PublicDesktop\*.lnk %userprofile%\desktop\*.lnk

the mapped drives do appear, but the shortcuts are not showing up ont he desktops. I have made sure that the EVERYONE groups has full access to the publicdesktop share.

I want to make 2 networks (changing workgroup) so that people in network 1 and 2 could share the internet connection without accessing the computers (i.e. pcs on network 1 can't access pcs on network 2 and vice versa)

we are having a problem with our computer freezing up. we have to turn it off from the tower and restart it then restart it again through the start menu so we can acess the internet. if you dont restart it the second time it shows no belkin adapters being installed. we tried reinstalling belkin but that didnt fix the problem. also could it be from the new internet explorer 7. we installed it 2 weeks ago but didnt start having the problem until earlier this week. i already ran a virus scanner and nothing showed up. what could this be from and how do we fix it?

Hi all,

I have connected my two PCs via cat5 ehernet cable. (cross over cable). the light is on on both cable plugs showing its connect. Now when I go to "Network Places" and click on "View workgroup computers" it says "the workgroup is not accessible, contact your administrator. The list of servers for this group is currently available". Please tell how to share internet connection and folders on the client computer with the host computer.

Your help is appreciated,

Thanks, Tim.

what I have here is I am in and automotive repair shop and we have 2 computers, one in the office and one in the repair side of the shop that we use to lookup electrical schematics to repair cars with and the computer in the shop is about to go out because of all the dust dirt ect. and though if I could possibly hook my monitor, keyboard and mouse to the computer in the office I would be able to save money and not have the problems with replacing the computer in the shop every year cause this gets expensive.

Say a home network is connected to the internet via a router. Two computers are connected to the internet via this router. Their ip addresses are different. How can a site deduce they are from the same network via the ip address.

Ok, I have a computer that's hooked up to DSL and I'm planning on buying a router... All that I would need to get an internet connection on another computer would be to just hook the ethernet cable from the router to the other computer, right? I thought I read somewhere that there has to be an additional wire between the actual two computers. So just a router and another cable to hook into the computer, or all of that AND another wire to link the two computers?

My server uses terminal services, I have a workgroup with about 40 computers listed, and 3 servers listed.
I don't want the workstations to have full access to those servers on the workstation. Only 1 folder on 1 of the servers.

I set up all the users with accounts on my servers, I'm trying to restrict them from seeing all but 1 folder on those servers.

how can this be done?

I am having trouble getting my backup software to backup my users profiles. The profiles are owned by the individual users and even me, the administrator, is not able to look at a users profile. Should I change the permissions on the profiles or do I need different backup software that will handle this problem.

I am studying to get my MCSE and I want to do a boot camp. I see these 7,14, 21 day bootcamps but they seem to be geared toward IT professionals who have a lot of IT experiance.

I know the fundamentals (topologies, OSI model, Directory infrastructures and a few more things)of the MCSE tract and have read a few study guides on the core stuff but I want to move along faster.

I don't have the vast knowledge to benifit from one of those quick boot camps but I am trying to see if there is a boot camp out there longer than 21 days that I can benifit from.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I am working off of an unsecured wireless connection from a local hotel and I've been using it for 8 months, no problem.

As of last week, it has started to lag out every 6 minutes for 30 seconds.

In other words, every 6 minutes, the internet cuts out. I don't get d/c from the router, I the internet just stalls. I play games online and this of course ruins my games experience. I was just wondering why this is? My girlfriend's laptop does the same thing now so it's not something on my laptop.

I tried renew/release my IP and it didn't work.

It's a timed thing, I can time it almost to the second. Every 6 minutes, for 30 seconds.

I have LAN (Local Area Network) and my network administrator knows that what I am currently doing on the net. He told me himself. But is he really saying the truth. I know that I am using their proxy but is it really possible that he knows what I am doing????? And if yes then please tell me that is there any thing or any way to prevent him to see what I am doing???????? Coz I am worried about my privacy.
