I am having trouble getting my backup software to backup my users profiles. The profiles are owned by the individual users and even me, the administrator, is not able to look at a users profile. Should I change the permissions on the profiles or do I need different backup software that will handle this problem.

The account that the backup is running under MUST have full access to the users profile folders. And the local System must have it as well. As should the Administrators group.

You may need to take ownership of the files and folders to make the changes. Administrators & System should have full control. The users should have Change rights, not Full Control.
