I need your help again, in setting up our two computers via cross over cable. I have done the required configurations needed to share internet connection, printer and file. Worgroup name is same on both the computers and they show that they are connected @ 100.0 Mbps. When I go to "Network Places" and click on "View Workgroup computers" it says "Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact your network administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available". (This happens both; the host and the client computer). As I run the NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS, the results displayed are pinging 192.168.0.1 request time out. Packets sent: 4, Lost: 4. (IP Subnet is: 255.255.255.0)

Any help is appreciated. Please reply fast.

I just brought my Mac laptop back home, where we have a wireless set, and all our computers at home are PCs. I put in the password to get onto the wireless network, and it says there is a error joining the network. We are using a Linksys router. I wouldn't typically think there would be a problem in computer systems. What could possibly be the problem?

Can I purchase and use a router INSTEAD of an access point?

I have a desktop comp. with wired dsl and just got a laptop with built in WiFi capability. Can I hook up a router to my dsl modem to recieve wireless internet on my laptop rather than hooking the modem up to an access point?

I'd prefer a router over an access point but I'm very new to wireless technology.

We use a third party to host our pop and smpt server. They are saying its on our end. They said that port 110 is likely blocked. I checked the server (win2k server) and nothing has changed. So I am guessing hte problem is that the router is somehow blocking port 110. But before i check the router, is there any service that is/is not running on my win2k server box that could be prohibited access to port 110 or the incoming pop email?

My friends and i lives together in a house and we share the internet. The speed should be 6Mbps (it's DSL)..so divided by 3 laptops, everyone should get about 2Mbps.
Recently our internet connection becomes slower and i just found out that we actually need to set up the computer/router. Before this we just plug in the cable to the router and do the basic settings for using the router. We never did the any special, difficult setting. We still can use the internet but it's not really that fast as we expected.
Especially using torrents client,my friend said that i should adjust the setting so that i could download faster.
Does anyone know about this?
