Tech already run cat5 cables, but the ends of the cables don't have the plastic connections or jacks.

You need a modular crimping tool that can put on RJ45 ends (8-wire).

They carry one at Radio Shack, although it's expensive. You can find them cheaper online if you don't need it right away.

They also carry the ends:

On the back of the box it shows you what colours go where, what order to put them in to. Follow the directions and you won't have a problem.
If you have a local reputable computer store, you can probably find both there for cheaper. Even some hardware stores may carry it. There are non-crimp ends available but I wouldn't recommend them.

You need a special crimping tool you can get at Radio Shack or most hardware stores. Be sure to be careful stripping the cable and fanning the conducters in the correct order.

First you need to know which colors belong together and what order they go in, it doesn't matter what order just as long as both ends have the same colors in the same order, the clear jacks need a cramping tool which will push those copper things at the bottom into the color coded wires..

The correct way to do this is don't use the clear rj 45 connectors use a patch panel and patch cords. If you do use rj 45 type connectors get the smoke colored ones they are for solid cable. the clear ones are for stranded cable.

you have to get the RJ-45 Connector and the Crimpling tool and then you have to put the wires in an order so that the connection works. here's a good website where it tells you how to make the wire yourself.

You need a network cripper and you should look up where you need to thread the different colours into the rj45 plastic bit.
