Use a router to hide your computer's IP address. The connection's IP will be visible, but not your computer's IP address.

If you are asking, instead, how to mask the origin of your connection to the website you are visiting, use something like the onion router/
tor. Your connection is routed through multiple servers, and each individual server only knows one portion of the connection.

There are a couple of methods of keeping your computers real IP Address unseen. First you could use a Router to connect to the internet. Using a Router will provide a public IP Address of the Router to the Internet, and assign your computer and all other computers on your home network a Private IP Address which the Internet does not "see". The Router interacts with the WWW, routing your computers packets out to the web, and then sends packets from the web to your computer.

The other method of keeping your IP Address hidden is to use a Privacy software program. You can find a number of these programs at local electronic stores, and they are refered by such names as Annonymous Surfing, etc.

You could also use a proxy, but that can be difficult for newbies as it takes some configuration of your firewall to do it properly, to allow packets in and out without actually causing a complete halt to internet traffic.

In order to connect to and serf the web you have to have an IP Address that is Public. It is impossible to have a connection without the Public IP Address and this is the protocol of the internet. So, with either a Router or a software annonymous surfing program which provides that Public IP Address and keeping your real IP Adress Private, you couldn't establish and keep a live connection.

Good luck and have a great Holliday Season!

P.S. Tell a friend or family member that an Annonymous Surfing software program would be a great gift for you! ;-)

Disconnect your computer completely from the Internet, then you will not have a visible IP address.

Seriously, an IP address is like a postal address. If you were to hide it, it would no longer be useful.

No matter what appears on your screen, your IP# is logged at the ISP you are useing, and passed on to whatever other computer yours wnats to comm with, thats Internet 101. If the machines cannot see each other that cannot recognize each other and there will be no coms.
You can masquerade or Subnet, but each Computer has a Uniquie IP# thats the way it works.
