ok.. my question is, I have a laptop with a wifi card that get's a max speed of 54mbps and im living in a huge apartment complex with about 73 unprotected access point's, I use the internet all the time it's reliable and free and now im wanting to connect my playstation 2 game system into the laptop and use the connection the laptop has to give my ps2 free internet so i can play all my favorite game's online. The laptop does not have a modem or a 10/100 ethernet jack, so im guessing if there is a way to do it i need to go buy a 10/100 ethernet card to connect the ps2 and laptop together. please help ! thanks.( also note, I can't access the routers or firewalls, although most of them are 100% unprotected)

We have been using our wireless setup for over a year now and no problems , then all of a sudden things went hay wire. We could sometimes get certain pages and not be able to see most sites. We tried everything even switched back to the old wireless router same problem. All of our computers are set for wireless even the laptops and all with the same results. We are fine if we hook up with wire dirrect , just for some reason wireless isnt working .We unplugged and did everything emaginable. Could an update or something have messed things up. It had to be recent with in a day.

How long are cisco certifications valid for? What happens when Cisco releases an updated CCNA cerfitification? Does cisco automatically cancel all certificates based on the old syllabus and makes it mandatory for everyone to appear for the newly updated certification? How often are updates to current certifications released?

Hello there

I'm going to help a public school in setting up a wireless network with shared internet business connection.

What i want to know is what's the best way to do this, and the hardware is not a problem, they want a reliable network. So whatever it takes is possible.

There are two parts in the building that are far away from each other,
what i was thinking is to put one router on each side and connect the two routers with a twisted pair cable, but the distance is gonna be around 150 meters , so im not sure if a 150m length cable is gonna do it, Will i need to install a bridge half the way or not ?

Each router is gonna be connected to two access points, one on the right, and the other on the left. The access points will be connected to the router by a cable too.
Then the access points will distribute the connection to the computers around it.
Is that a good choice, or do you have any suggestions ?

I have a desktop with a belkin wireless g usb adapter and i have a problem try to connect to my wireless router. Everytime I turn the computer on it wont detect the network and say im not connected. I have to unplug the adapter and replug it to get the signal.I contacted belkin but the instructions they gave me didnot really work. I have a 2wire modem if that makes a difference. Im not really knowledgeable on wireless networking so maybe thats the problem:(

Ok so I've got 2 computers going through my router. Computer A is hard wired and is the computer that was used to set up the network. Computer B is connected wirelessly. I went home from work yesterday and turns out Computer A has several viruses and trojans (norton quarantined IE). Not having the time to deal with it, I just turned it off, hoping to prevent further damage.

However, Computer B was not able to connect to the internet all last night into this morning. The router is working just fine, my wireless adapter just won't pick up or recognize the signal. I scanned computer B, which came up virus-free. The adapter seems to be working alright...I reinstalled the drivers.

My question is, can these 2 be related? Thanks in advance

Let me explain it like this, I have a wireless router installed, and working. However, it falls just a bit short of the range I need. Since I have another wireless router, that I'm not using, I wonder if I can plug into one of the open ports, on the existing router, with an Ethernet or IEEE 1394, and feed the other router, placing it in another location, therefore extending my range? Instead of having to buy a range extender, or repeter. It seems like it should work, but I'm concerned about "Ghost Signal" affecting the other wireless computers. So, what do you think? Will it work, or not? Let me know.

I am a networking student but am still not sure about the difference between the two. I like to think i am pretty good at networking but for some reason i guess i wasn't paying attention the day we discussed this. Also, if you all could give me one good tip in the networking field that just might help me out one day i would appreciate that.

I have two XP machines sitting about 3 feet apart. The wireless router is in another room about 25 feet away. Normally, the signal strength on both machines is "Very good", but occasionally one machine or the other (rarely both at the same time) will suddenly show a signal strength drop to "Low" or "Very Low". Box A seems to experience it about 3 times as much as Box B. I have done some testing and it appears that when this happens, my network throughput is about 1-3kbps. It gradually gets slower until network requests simply time out, at which point I have to reboot. Rebooting immediately fixes the problem. I tried to wait it out, thinking it might be interference from a microwave or phone, but the problem never goes away on its own. Also, doing a "repair" on the network connection, or manual disable-enable does not fix the problem. It is extremely puzzling, as it has only been going on for about 4-6 weeks, and seems to be increasing in frequency.
