Hi, I'm trying to connect Rockwell PLC's to communicate with the rest of my enterprise. I'm looking for some software that is SOA, SCADA, and Java compatible, and doesn't require an awful DCOM protocol with impossible custom programming. It would really be nice if this were fast and easy to install as well.

I can't seem to find a good wireless router that uses a and g signals. I already have a "g" router. Should I just get an a/g access point?

The HLEN is 4 bits long in IP Datagram and the length of header is 20 bytes. If we turn all four bits ON(1) it becomes 15 but the minumuim header length is 20. Can any body explain it? May be i'm not getting it right.

I asked a question about sharing a folder on two computers, and someone was kind enough to tell me the 2 ip addresses must be in the same network.

I've had a class in networking and I know about subnetting. From what I understand, "same network" means "same subnet".

What I don't understand is right now I have 2 computers.
The first one is a laptop which is assigned an ip address automatically. The second one is a desktop which also has an ip address assigned automatically.

1.How do I make the 2 ip addresses belong to the same subnet?
If I assign new ip addresses to my 2 machines by putting in ip address at TCP/IP properties, wouldn't that mess up my internet connection?

2.In order to figure out the range of each of the subnet, you need to know whether it's /24, /28, /30, etc (I don't remember exactly what this /value is called). How do you find out which /value applies to your network?

I hope my questions are not confusing.
Thank you very much

A long time ago I configured two windows machines to share a folder.
I did that on school's computers. And, it went fine.

What I failed to take a look is whether or not the two machines have to be connected by a hub (or something else?). I didn't pay close attention to the hardware part b/c I was not responsible for it. And, I'm now curious if the two machines need to be connected by any device.

Thanks in advance
