I bought a Linksys NH1005 and it actually it is switched and not a hub, which makes it useless for my purposes.

The box says hub, the device says hub, the device is actually a switch.

I don't know which purpose you would want a hub for and not a switch. The only difference is that a hub broadcasts all information sent over it to all nodes. This could result in a malicious user using a packet scanner to pick up all traffic. well I guess that is what you want to do.

you can get a hub at any store that sells computer parts.

not sure what you are doing that would require a hub and not a switch? a switch can do everything a hub can do and more...

You can get a hub from any online store that sells computer equipment.

What you need to do is make sure that it says "hub" on it, and not switch.
