i just got a wifi max. i was just wondering if i can hook my wifi max up with my laptop?

There are two parts to a wireless home network.
One is the access point/router. I'm assuming that this is what you just got.
The other half is the client's wireless hardware, which goes in your laptop. You may already have this.

Wifi max is (I think), a superset of 802.11g, which is compatible with any variety of 802.11b or g. So you need a wifi-enabed laptop or an add-in PCMCIA card or USB wifi adapter.
