+1 chuck, adhoc network for the win. crossover cable would definately be the cheapest and easiest way to go. If you have 2 wireless cards an adhoc can be set up easier..

Classic question.

You need a router and both PC plug or hooked via a wireless router in order that both PCs can see each others.

There is no need to run any network wizard. But there is a need
to right click on each folder that you want to share and select share&security , and check share this folder over the network.
Also you need to turn off both firewalls.

This is called networking which does not involve the internet.

When you get your router I will walk you through the process.

Joe.

It's built into your computer. Click on network and follow all directions. A wizard will also help you along.

You will also need a cable to do this with. If you have a Radio Shack in your area, they are your best bet. There slogan is (You have Questions, We have Answers). Give them a call for really honest answers. You most likely will be able to have someone there walk you through the whole setup.

Simple if the two computers have a network card on them (like the one you plug in your Internet wire)if they don't get someone to install it for you like your dad or a computer mechanic\specialist,and get a long wire(same type as your Internet wire)then connect them together then you've got connection.
Now the only problem is how to have a connection between the computers and at the same time have Internet connection.
