I can't decide! There are so many points of view. My main uses are internet, word processing, a little excel. Many of my friends have switched to Mac and praise the stability. However, it seems software and hardware is less available.

I am currently looking at the Dell E1705 notebook, but I am baffled over these two types of internet. Two cards are available, the "Intel PRO/Wireless 3945a/g" and the "Dell Wireless 1390b/g (54Mbps)." However, I do not understand the differences between the two of these. If you have an opinion on these, please tell me your preference.

I was thinking that if I put a second network card in one of the computers would that work as a hub as well? If not, can anyone suggest the cheapest way of linking 3 pc's just for Christmas so we can all play games together.

Many thanks
James

Hi,
I'd created a GP for a group of users under same OU. And keyed in a list of websites that are allowable to access under Approved Sites tab. Why is that everytime user tries to access to somewhere in that site, it'll block them right away? For example, www.yahoo.com is on the Allow list, but when the user go to yahoo, and clicks on some link like Money.yahoo.com, or realestate.yahoo.com, these will be blocked. Is there any way that this can be fixed?
Another question, even though I created GP for that particular OUusers, but if someone else in different OU tries to login the machines that restricted users login, they're also blocked.
I did disable gp applied to computers in the GP properties tab.

THanks

It's really strange... I have network (i'm connected with my brother, we share files), but I cannot connect to internet, although I used to have internet access previously. His computer was infected with many viruses, so we had make format. I established a new local connection, but still I can't find a way to activate ISC (the check box is on (on advanced options at Internet connection properties); the Firewall/ICS in administrative tools is started; the ip addresses are ok (as they used to be); Could it be the kaspersky anti virus program that he uses now? Or something else...

Hey all

I know this is a bit of a naughty question but its only for fun, something im trying to learn and It will not be used to attack anyone in anyway....

I am using a neighbours unsecured Wireless connection, and i have been reading and using port scanners and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is possible to see and access my neighbours C drive?...I have read quite alot so Just wondered im someone could roughly tell me step by step if its possible..

Can I access it using telnet in MS DOS command prompt?

Like I said this is just someting that intrigues me, and I wonder if it is indeed possible...

Thanks for any answers in Advance!

Recently I fixed up an old computer we had sitting around with my dad. We gave it a new hard drive because the old one was messed up and didn't work for more than 20 minutes at a time. Then we set up a wireless connection between this computer and our main computer. Now I want to be able to play games on it that I have installed on the main computer. If I "share out" the C: drive on our main computer will I be able to access these games through our network connection by mapping it as a network drive?

I don't have a desktop so I can't create a network printer setup. I have my printer connected to a belkin usb hub, but I want my girlfriend to also print from her computer when we are both in the same room so that we don't have to keep on swapping cables. I tried the Linksys wireless print port thing and it sucks. Any other solutions?

I tried to get good seats for Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I always seem to be too slow to get good tickets from ticketmaster.com So my question is, besides a fiber optic connection to the internet, what can I do both with hardware and software to connect quicker to ticketmaster.

For example

is a quad core going to be faster connecting than a dual core?
Is a 64 bit chip set going to connect faster than a 32bit chip?
WIll the video card make any difference at all in displaying the site?
How much ram is enough? Do Ram timings make a difference?
Is overclocking ram and/or cpu going to result in a faster connection?
Should I be running certain software or OS's that will allow me to connect quicker? I.e. linux/ubuntu etc.
Should stopping windows processes from running in the background speed up the connection?
Is a 802.11g vs 802.11N router going to make a difference?

Is there any way to test how fast different software works?
Any other insights or opinions will be much appreciated.
