reset the router back to factory defaults, leave everything set to default settings don't change SSID or security settings until you have connectivity with the Internet.

Bring your network back up in this order:

#1 - Cable/DSL modem wait for Link light to come on power up router

#2 - wait for the link light on the router to come on then power up your laptop.

#3 - Check to make sure you are getting an IP address from the DHCP server.

go to START > RUN then type in cmd. at the command prompt type ipconfig /all

* start troubleshooting from this point

Check the properties to make sure that your wireless is being handled by windows--go to network settings properties then choose the wireless card. Check the box on the wireless network tab (Tabs at the top are general, wireless nwk and advanced). Then check the box that says 'use windows to configure my wireless network settings.'
Also, make sure that if you have a WEP Key that you have that typed in for your wireless on your laptop as well.
How old is your linksys router? If it is less than a year or two, you may need to call linksys to have them walk you thru installing a program that will help it install to the router--I had to do this for someone that I installed a network for and they walked through installing the software that I needed--an extra driver.
Try the letting windows manage first and check in that list also to make your laptop connect to it first (further down on the page). Let me know if this helps!
