It's really strange... I have network (i'm connected with my brother, we share files), but I cannot connect to internet, although I used to have internet access previously. His computer was infected with many viruses, so we had make format. I established a new local connection, but still I can't find a way to activate ISC (the check box is on (on advanced options at Internet connection properties); the Firewall/ICS in administrative tools is started; the ip addresses are ok (as they used to be); Could it be the kaspersky anti virus program that he uses now? Or something else...

the very first thing that you do when you lose connectivity to the Internet is to check your IP address. go to Start > Run then type in ipconfig /all

* this is where you start troubleshooting

Hi,
This problem could be commonly caused by a firewall on the (hosts) computer. If you could try to disable your firewall/anti-virus simply as a testing measure to see whether you can gain internet access on the second pc.
Alternatively, it could be a little more deep-routed and be the fact that a internet connection service is not started. Go to:
Start -=> Run and type 'services.msc' and look for something like 'Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing' and make sure that its enabled.
If any of the above methods don't work, im unsure as to what is causing your problem. Make sure your getting network traffic, and that the data is transfering between the two machines by going to:
Start -=> Settings -=> Network Connections
And right click the secondary network card which is being shared to the second pc.

Hopefully this will help you :)

An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

ping your router, if it comes back good then its a problem with the connection from the modem to the router. ICS is the slow way to go and I can hardly believe that is what your trying to use.. But anyways turn off Microsoft's ICF (internet connection firewall). If you router isn't pinged sucessfully, then check router settings and connections between the PC's and router..
