Check with your ISP. Only they can tell you if you have the right IP addresses entered for your DNS server.

in my case it turns out that zonealarm occasionally blocks access to DNS-Servers.
this problem occured every once in a while and lastet for about 5 minutes, then it all goes back to normal.
changing zonealarm settings did not bring any relief.
even 'repairing the network' from the network status dialog resulted in an error
if youre not using zonealarm, you might have problems that your PC is unable to detect wether its online right now, or not.
there might be a wrong entry in the settings of internet explorer (even handling settings for other browsers)
checkout Internet explorer - extras - connection
you might have a manually entered DNS-server in there somewhere.
telling how your settings must be depends very much on your networks structure.
do you have a specific DNS server your ISP asks you to put in some field somewhere ?
do you dial-up with an adaptor or a modem ?
too much to checkout here, unsure what to do.
whatever you do its important that you end all instances of IExplorer and restart it (sometimes even those still in the taskmanager, but not visible on the desktop), just to bring IE to the point finding out that you are online.
one possibility is that your DNS-cache holds information which is no more accurate. you can flush the DNS-cache (instructions within help section)
DNS as far as i remember works on port 53, so you should ensure its not blocked in a firewall, or am external router
but if all does not help ... live with it .. its not a bug, its a feature

Let me guess, you cant open a web page and the generic error message in IE mentioned that it might be caused by not finding a DNS server...
I swear you have to be a mind reader sometimes.
You have a connection issue that could be anything. ping is your friend.
In DOS type ipconfig /all and see if ya have DNS servers, try to ping them
try to ping yahoo.com
call your ISP tech support=) ya got too many things that could be wrong.

that is a chance that your router and modem are basically not speaking, try power biking them both for kind of 5 minutes as antagonistic to fifteen-30 seconds, beforehand as we talk I had the same difficulty and after attempting to diagnose and set up my router for kind of 0.5-hour i tried power biking them both and it basically worked. maximum routers will configure themselves a minimum of sufficient to get you on line. i understand suggesting to power cycle isn't efficient(i anticipate you've already performed it too) yet basically attempt to unplug your router and modem for 4-5 minutes. you're plugging your computing gadget straight away into the modem now superb perfect? because i ought to easily connect in this computing gadget with the help of the modem beforehand I reset them, i extremely do not understand sufficient about routers to assist any extra so i'm hoping that is functional.
