You need:

1) A wireless router or access point

2) Wireless network adapter for your computer (many notebooks have this built-in)

3) High speed Internet access (DSL or cable) with the appropriate modem provided by your ISP

High speed access is a must. A lot depends on the hardware you currently have. Basically, you need a wireless router. (I prefer Belkin, many like Linksys) Plug your high speed modem into the wireless router and then the router to your PC. You need a direct connection to configure most routers. Put security such as WEP on the router to protect your network. There are many ways to configure all different kinds of routers. If your not experienced, then the best thing to do is to run the disk that comes with the router. You will also need a wireless nic for the PC or laptop your are using. The NIC and router have to be configured to connect to each other.

For 2 and 3 you can check out the from Linksys and your PC/ laptop's configuration. For 1, you can check out Singtel or Starhub's packages (in Singapore)

A wireless router, Linksys makes a pretty good router. And a broadband internet connection. Very simple to set up the router documentation will tell you how to do the basics.
