Wireless is fine for this. I would advise using a USB adapter with an external antenna over a PCI card that you install in the desktop. The antenna on these cards typically ends up around the power supply on the back of your computer, and electromagnetic interference can degrade the wireless signal.

You are better off using a wireless adapter that consists of a tower (antenna) with a USB cable that runs down the back of the PC and plugs into the USB port.

Security is the big issues with wireless. Make sure you encrypt the wireless signal to protect the data as it's transmitted through the air, and set up MAC address filtering so that only the computers you specifically allow can join your network. You don't want your neighbor downloading MP3's and kiddie porn from your IP address. Your wireless router should have instructions on how to enable these security measures.

Yes, you can use a wireless router... just get a wireless nic for the 2nd desktop.

Most wireless routers have 4 switch ports, so you can connect the pc near the router with a cable.

Good luck

You'll need a wireless router and a wireless NIC card for the PC that will operate wirelessly.

both are good. if u go thru wireless than u will need a wireless receiver on the other computer and also set up a WPA or WPE wireless security by loging into ur router so no one outside u network can use ur network

Either wireless or wired will work. If you use wireless you'll want to setup the WPA security to avoid sharing with the entire neighborhood.

if you are hooked up with high speed already, get a wireless card for the other PC to work in another room. I have a Linksys card, work's great. Go to http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Download_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115417109934&packedargs=sku%3D1123637884333&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper to read more about it. Good luck. Mikie.
