First get your internet working the way it was... Now usually, dsl modems will have little lights that say power, ethernet, dls, activity. if all these lights are on, then your dsl probably is ok, it's either a changed setting or some wierd hardware failure.

Of course depending on your router, you need to set up your router using a wizard on manually config built-in router config page.
There should be some instruction with the router of how to get to the router/advanced/config page.

Once there, you need to input your dsl info into the router. This allows your router to connect to the internet. Usually its your email address myfoot@urfacesbcglobal.net and your password to that account. I could more specific on how to do this, but i dont know the type/brand router you have.

Its not the case much anymore, but you may have to set your router to have whats called PPPoE enabled. Usually the router wizard will do it for you. Also sometimes the DSL software on the pc you had before router, can cause problems (it has in my case) Remove any DSL software because you wont need it anyways.

Once this is all done, you want to hit the status tab, and hit connect... this should do the job.........

Like i said this is very general knowlegde, the procedure might be much simpler.. i would need to your router more specific

Not all routers are the same and most have a different method for configuration.

Basically though, the router connects between the modem and the computer. Once connected properly, you would open a browser on your computer to something like 192.168.0.1 (or whatever the default for the router is) and log in as the administrator. The default password should be in the manual.

Once you're there, many routers have a Wizard that'll guide you through the installation. If not, you need to set up the WAN settings. These define all the parameters to "talk" to the modem and establich the connection.

I've worked with many routers and haven't see a poor manual yet. Give your a try and if you don't have one, get it from their website.
