I was rear-ended by a drunk driver 3 months ago on my way to school. This was the guys second DUI, and drugs were involved. I was stopped at a red light, and he knocked me thru the intersection. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and had to return the next day due to pain. Since then, I have had several sets of x-rays, a MRI, numerous chiropractor visits, and numerous meds (pain and muscle spasms) My medical bills are over $9000.00. I have had terrible headaches, muscle spasms, stiffness, loss of sleep, loss of concentration, missed work and school, dizziness, tissue damage, and whiplash. The natural curve in my neck is now gone. With over 9000. in medical bills, how much pain and suffering should I expect from his insurance? The state is Kentucky, and he was insured through Nationwide Insurance. I also went 2 weeks without a car, and they didn't offer a rental. They told me they weren't responsible. Any suggestions?

I was driving down a slightly busy road in town Thursday. We were at a stop light, light turns green, everyone drives forward, was about 20 feet behind the car in front of me. I look down for a split second, look up and the car in front of me had slammed on their brakes. I was driving an SUV, she a sedan. I slammed on the brakes, but tapped her rear-bumper at around 5 mph. We both pulled to the side of the road, and got out of our cars. Surveying the damage, her car appeared to have none, and mine had a dent on the front bumper. We decided the police did not need to be involved, and just exchanged phone numbers. On Saturday, she called me and said her trunk did not close properly, it was my fault. I told her to go get an estimate and we could probably work something out. She did on Monday and said $4000. She says that the passenger door doesn't open properly and there is all sorts of other damages. What should I do? Any experience out there in these matters? Thanks

Hi! I was planning on going to get my driving permit this afternoon, but then I realized that you have to take an eye test. I've asked others that have taken the test in my state, and it is one of those unsanitary contraptions in which you press your face against that black bar to display the information. Well, that's a problem for me because I refuse to have an eye exam, as I have contracted conjunctivitis TWICE from TWO SEPARATE eye exams.... at doctor's offices no less! And the doctor's office BY FAR would go through more steps in sterilizing their equipment, no? I refuse to touch any part of my body, let alone a mucous membrane, against something that every foreigner that just stepped off the boat touches. Don't give me any "everyone does it, and I've never caught anything anything" because it DOES happen -- and twice to me no less! Is there an alternative (i.e. having a note from a doctor with all of my vision test results)? Thanks!

Ok, I don't understand the whole "No-Fault Insurance." It sounds fu**** up if it's what I think it means. In my old state, if you hit someone, YOU pay for their damages, but from what I understand, here, you gotta pay for your own damages even if it's not your fault! Is this true, or am I wrong? If that is true, that is the stupidest law I have ever heard! Ok, I am done ranting. :)

I was rear-ended yesterday in a parking lot where the speed limit would typically be areound 15 mph. I was stopped (on a hill) with a car in front of me when I was rear-ended by a lady in a jeep going about 30 mph. Luckily, I didn't hit the car in front of me, but the person who hit me pushed me about 2 feet. The back hatch of my van is completely crushed, the drivers side back door is puched toward the front of my van and is not sitting flush with the rest of the van, and it looks as if she may have bent the frame. I was taken to the ER by ambulance because of excrutiating back pain and was told I strained the muscles and I have whiplash. I went back to the doctors today because the pain was worse and they suggested physical therapy. The woman who hit me acted very non-chalant about the accident and was even chuckling as she got out of her vehicle. Now I am in horrible pain and have no vehicle to drive and just wanted to see if I should hire a lawyer? Any suggestions?

Last June my H (47) was rear ended into an 18 wheeler when another driver fell alseep at the wheel. The driver hit the gas instead of the brake when he woke up and hit my H a 2nd time.

My H received damage to his neck and spine. He's been through 6 months of physical therapy 3 times a week, 3 epi shots, 4 opinions, and just went through back fusion surgery last month.

Back surgery alone was over $125,000 and it was the anterior/posterior type, of the 3 disks injured in his spine, one was compressing his spinal cord and causing sensory damage.

The PT, was successful on the cervical injuries.

He was coming back from a worksite, in a company provided vehicle, so worker's comp is paying all the bills.

The surgery was H's only chance of ever returning to his job in full capacity.

The attorney is going after the driver's insurance, the worker's comp and our insurance.

The medical bills alone are closing in on $250,000.

Anything left after medical and attorney?

It was the other girl fault and the police didn't give her a ticket, i didn't get one either. I refused to go the hospital because my pain in my neck wasn't that bad. Now it stiffens up today. This is my first accident so I don't know what to do. My car is pretty much gone but drivable. Is there any compensations on my part. I'm thinking its probably not a good case because neither of us got a ticket. I already filed a claim with my insurance and they'll call me tomorrow. But I don't know what to do on behalf of my injurty, I dont want to get stuck with a huge hospital bill.

No one saw him do it (he thinks) and so a few hours after leaving his friend called and asked if he hit it and he just said no. The cops were involved however, a few days later his friend called the police station to see if anything was going on and the police just said the case was closed. Hes afraid he can still get into trouble? Is it possible for him to get into trouble after the case was closed? If so, how?

2 days ago a crazy elderly lady with full coverage insurance thru The Good Sam Insurance Company tried to pass me over a double yellow line and lost control of her vehicle and slammed into the drivers side front tire and pushed me off the road into barbwire . My 1985 318i BMW plowed through 34 feet of barbwire and 7 heavy metal T-posts. I wasnt hurt at all just shook up and same with her but my car is history!!The CHP came and did a report and gave me the womans name and insurance company and policy #. I didnt have any insurance so my question is , will her insurance company pay for my damages since it was her fault? and should I get an attorney ?

Next week, I'll be switching to another auto insurance. My previous limits with another company were:

-minimum MD state 20/40/15 for Bodily Injury, Uninsured Motorist, and property damage
-PIP $2500
-250/500 for Comprehensive/Collision, had road service, towing, and rental.
I don't have many assets. I'm a renter and I live from paycheck to paycheck. I have no accidents, no tickets, and no violations for the last 8 years. I'm a cautious driver. I drive a 2003 Honda Civic.
The new insurance company is offering me $759/year for the limits 100/300/100 Bodily Injury Liability and matching for Uninsured Motorist + Property Damage, 250/500 for Comp/Coll, road service, towing, and rentals, PIP 2500.
I've seen different answers that say 100/300/100 would be better for those who own a house and have a better income.
What do you think is a recommended coverage going?

Am in predicament - potential buyer naturally wishes to test drive the car. My insurance covers only myself and wife. I have heard that so long as the buyer himself has fully comp insurance, he will be insured to drive any car. Is this correct?
