Am I forced to have to buy full coverage? Or the minimum insurance? And if I am forced to have to get full coverage, how much are we talking about? Does anyone know any really good insurance companies that would charge less? I am 21, clean driving record, but no credit. I have been approved for the car though. But you know.. it's so I can take the ladies out. So I can't afford insane insurance, because that defeats the purpose of getting the car. Can anyone knowledgeable on insurance and dealerships help me out? All help is greatly appreciated.

She said: "I got hit by a car this afternoon on my way to the doctor's office. I don't mean I was in a car that got hit, I mean an SUV bumped into me as I was crossing the street and spun me around and knocked me flat on my back. It was really scary and confusing. When I got up, the driver had stopped, and came to see if I was okay. I think I am, but my glasses are scratched. I didn't know what to do...my instinct told me it would be sort of stupid to just walk away after getting hit by a car, so I asked him if he had insurance (he said he didn't) and had him give me his name and number, and I wrote down the license plate number and all that. I think that's what I was supposed to do but I'm f^&*ing clueless. I HAVE NO CLUE." Isn't it illegal to drive without insurance? Should my friend take legal action? She says that she's feeling sore and her back hurts - there may be some possible injury. Please - any advice, I will surely pass along to her.

The damage is on side and front bumper- should I move the car?
What should my first action be? I am expected somewhere now and the car looks OK to drive but with body damage- should I take a picture before I move it?

Should I call the person on the way? What should I say- what are points to pay attention to?

Any advice about a situation like this much appreciated. Thanks to all who answer.

The accident was not my fault, but the other driver did not have insurance. My left hand was fractured at the pinky knuckle and also lower in my hand at the middle finger. I was in a splint for 8 weeks, and went to see a physical therapist for only two weeks. I still have pain in the pinky knuckle and cannot bend it as far as the right hand. The doctor told me that I will most likely have severe arthritis when I get older (I am 26 now). I was only out of work for three days, but I had to be on restricted duty for a month. I had a hard time buttoning and pulling up my pants, as well as fixing my hair. It took me an extra half hour to hour to get ready every day. I want to know what to expect from the insurance company.

I live in California and have heard that I can get an extension for my car tags. I did not realize that I had to get a smog test. Aren't they those numbers that you put in your back window? I get them at the DMV right? I have an appt. today at the DMV. But because I did not smog check my car, will they give me an extension? My tags expire Sat.

I drove the truck of the lot after all the papers were signed including "I am taking delivery of this vehical" paper. I have keys, registration in my name, my own financing, all the papers.... They messed up and didn't change enough. Not my problem. But it was a big mess up ($6500.00). I drove of the lot for 20 minutes to experience my new ride and then returned to the dealership and left the truck with them for a (included in the sales price) truck bed cover install They realized their mistake a few days later and called asking to redo the numbers back the way they wanted them to be. They said they wont give me my truck and they threating to void the contract if i dont sign the with the numbers the way they want. I need to call some angencies in the morning {police/dmv} but thought id try here in the mean time. Im pretty sure they have stolden my truck. The big boss keeps coming back to "you didnt take it to your house". I'm pretty sure taking delivery means driving of the lot period!

I have just been contacted by a firm of debt collectors who say they are acting on behalf of the Motor Insurance Bureau.

They say I had an accident 5 years ago, gave my details & that I have since been chased to provide proof of insurance. Although they have given me the correct make, model & reg of the car I owned then, the date they say I had an accident the car was off the road, garaged with a snapped cam belt - couldn't afford the repairs. The address they say I gave was an old address so this is the 1st time I have been contacted and the 1st time I am aware of anyone chasing me.

I have had no accident in the past 5 years insured, let alone uninsured. Where do I stand? The car had been offroad some months, not drivable, not insured. The firm is threatening all sorts & says the onus is on me to prove (5 yrs on) that it wasn't me. Debt collector is trying to serve me a Statutory Demand (?) and has mentioned bankruptcy in their letter. Am really worried & welcome any advice.

Hey guys, I currently work for a company called Prime Shuttle and I happened to get this letter about my work car...(I sorta own it).

To Whom it may concern:
As of this date below, this carrier posesses valid charter party carrier authority from the california public utilities commision.because a CA DMV "commercial" license plate designation has not yet been issued for the vehicle listed below, a CPU decal cannot be issued for this vehicle at this time.

This letter authorizes this carrier to operate this vehicle pursuant to his/her/their charter party carrier authority for a period of 60 days from the date indicated below without displaying a CPUC decal, PROVIDED that the carrier also:
1.Maintains the "active" status of the above TCF operating authority
2.conforms with all other TCP display requirements contained in CPUC general order 157-C and
3.obeys all other CPUC rules and regulations.

body type:VAN Model:2002 etc

THIS LETTER IS VALID ONLY IF EMBOSSED WITH THE COMMISION SEAL

I currently have my car registered and insured in Texas under my parents policy. I'm moving to CA next week and will be getting my own policy. I made an appointment to get a CA driver's license and register the car, etc. Do I need to show proof of CA insurance in order to register the car (or will my Texas policy be okay at the time until I get a new CA policy)? If I need to show proof of a CA insurance policy before I register the car, isn't it weird to get insurance for CA when I still have a TX driver's license? Or does this not matter and you just update your driver's license info with the new insurance company. Thanks.

Had a truck that was in an acident, we had state farm and the other driver, had the same insurance co. It was decided that
they did not want to fix it. How can john q public be sure that
he was not manipulated, to settle for half of the value of the
truck? Was this a ploy to benefit the adjuster with a nice bonus?

A friend of mine just got into a car accident in California. He was test driving a car. The guy who wants to sell the car was in the passenger seat. My friend was unfamiliar with the area and the guy who wants to sell the car told him to turn right. While doing that he crossed another lane and got hit by a car driving there. Both cars got quite damaged, but no one got injured. Police came and filed a ticket against my friend. He does not have any insurance. What advise could I give him? What should he do next?

I don't live in the states so it is kind of hard for me to help him.

I was in a fender-bender yesterday. The guy hit me from behind, and after the police officer came and checked our records, it seems the guy who hit me has quite a history of "bumping into people".

My car is a used car, but Kelly Blue Book gives it's retail value at $3500. The only damage my car seems to have suffered is a scuffed and cracked rear bumper. When this guy's insurance guy comes to look at my car, I'm sure it will be in his best interest to come out as cheaply as possible on his company's end. Since this is the first time I've ever been in this situation, I have no idea what to expect.

Any tips or suggestions for dealing with the insurance company? I certainly don't want to get screwed, but I want to be honest as well. People who scream lawsuit and whiplash in hopes of seeing dollar signs don't interest me in the least. All I want is a fair deal here.

And maybe a new bumper.

I'm 21 years old male and I live in NJ.
I'm thinking about buying a used car and financing it.
I was looking at GEICO website and the quote came out to about $1600/year for 2000 honda S2000.
I was wondering if that amount is right.
I selected collision and comprehensive coverage along with all the other coverage options.
I thought full coverage would be much more expensive like $3000 but that is so low.
So I was wondering if that amount is right.

(I live in NJ with my uncle and my parents live in massachusetts)
