And?? So what's the problem? If you're just sitting there with the engine running you'rr not only wasting a non-renewable resource (gas) but you're also polluting my (and everyone else's) air. I think $ 50 is much too low; I'd rather see a fine of at least $ 250 for this infraction! I wish more cities would enact similar legislation!

This combats the idiots who feel it is right to leave vehicles running while they run into the store "for a few minutes" because they want the a/c or heat to run. It also combats the idiots who sit at railroad crossings while 10-minute long trains pass by. It is a good thing. It is just unfortunate laws like this have to be passed because such a high percentage of drivers can't be bothered doing the right and sensible thing.
