I drove the truck of the lot after all the papers were signed including "I am taking delivery of this vehical" paper. I have keys, registration in my name, my own financing, all the papers.... They mest up and didn't change enough. Not my problem. but they did mest pretty bad ($6500.00) I drove of the lot for 20 minuts to experience my new ride and then returned to the dealership and left the truck with them for a (included in the sales price) truck bed cover install They realized their mistake a few days later and called asking to redo the numbers back the way they wanted them to be. They said they wont give me my truck and they threating to void the contract if i dont sign the with the numbers the way they want. I need to call some angencies in the morning {police/dmv} but thought id try here in the mean time. Im pretty sure they have stolden my truck. The big boss keeps coming back to "you didnt take it to your house". I'm pretty sure taking delivery means driving of the lot period!

Dude, hell no. That truck is yours for whatever is stated as the sales price on the bill of sale that you already have. Do NOT lose that. It is your proof that you bought the truck for that price. They cannot simply void the contract. Their sale to you entered them into a legally binding contract, one which they cannot simply "recalculate" due to error or whatever.

That's what I want to say.

On the other hand, the law does allow for the voiding of some contracts where error was made. I would definately consult with an attorney, because if they really really pushed hard enough, that dealership m-i-g-h-t be able to have the contract voided. They seem to not realize that however, as they haven't pointed that out to you. Even so, they would have to bring the matter to court, and they cannot simply hold your truck until you agree to new terms.

If what you are representing here is correct, they might even be guilty of Grand Theft Auto!!! HAHAHAHA.

The dealership is going to lose that truck. The only reason it's back at the lot is because they're doing something that was prmoised in the contract. Once it's signed and you've taken delivery (which you have) there's nothing they can do to change that contract.

SCREW them. Go to a lawyer and sue their "Censored" rear ends. They screwed up and are trying to bluff you. Call the cops and tell them they have your truck and make sure you have the papers. Now the cop might tell you to resign, BUT DON'T. Tell him that, that is your truck and you want it now. But check with the lawyer first.

See what state laws says about recording a telephone conversation. In Texas, we can do this as long as one of the parties is on the phone who is doing the recording. No third party recording. Then tell them you want your bed done too. But see the lawyer first thing in the AM.

keep the papers and call the cops , you took delivery when they handed you the keys and your copy of the signed papers .

The bad publicity will cost them a lot more than the 6500 mistake .

Make sure you copy those papers and dont give them back to the dealer , its your only proof .

If they made a mathematical error then YES, they have a right to void the contract -- however, you may want to run this by a lawyer ASAP. The longer you wait the colder your case will be on this.

Several of you have advocated that our correspondent use the papers from the sale as evidence to back up his argument. As good an idea as that is, what if he left those papers in the glove box of his truck?
