Its all very well introducing the "3 points on license" if caught using a mobile handset but shouldn't the drivers who are not doing it have the power to report other drivers they observe using their handset. They could give the details (vehicle reg etc) to their local police station for them to investigate. They're not enough police on the road to monitor this.

I was due to change my car tax yesterday 28th Feb 2007. I had all the documents ready but the woman over the counter said the number plates on the car tax and insurance certificate didn't match!! She was right - I recently changed my car and rang my insurance company asking them to change the car over. In a few days I got my new insurance certifacte checked through it but didn't spot the mistake. Now I don't have the correct document for my tax and I need my car for my job.

What is my best option do I ring and tell the DVLA?, buy my car tax on line and will this be ok as I will still have to use my old one while it turns up? Is there a certificate I can get just to cover me for insurance at the moment?

All answers would be a great help - Many Thanks x

I sold my car to a young man two years ago. But, last year I've got 5 parking violation mails from the city where I've never been. I realized that the young man hasn't registered the car I sold, and violated parking regulations.

So, I went to DMV to transfer the car. But I can’t transfer the car since I lost his name, and phone number. I've appealed the citations in parking department but the appeals were rejected because there is not enough information of the buyer.

How to take my name off from the liability of the car without buyer's information.

I bought this nice car at a used dealership that I thought was legit since it claims it uses Carfax. I've been waiting for the registration to come for a while now and I decided to call the DMV. It just so happens that the car isn't registered in my name but the old owner. And to make things worse the car dealership has gone out of business. Anyone been through this too?

Got hit by a hit and run drunk driver that was caught by a police officer who saw the whole thing. He had insurance with limits of 30 / 60 K. Long story short, my medical bills have totaled $38,000 with future needs still outstanding. His insurance co. has offered me his maximum payout. Fine, but based on the insurance industry own formula I'm entitled somewhere between $114,000 and $152,000 for pain and suffering, lost wages etc, etc.

My question is, will my underinsured coverage come into play here. One attorney told me underinsured does not cover punitive actions, only actual costs. Is this true? So then who pays for the pain and suffering portion of a claim?

Also, why won't his insurance co. tell me what he was insured for? All they will say is yes he had coverage, so I assumed it was the state minimum since this guy is a real looser. Don't they have to tell me? Anyway I can find out if he had additional coverage? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of any insurance company operating in TEXAS that provides minimum liability insurance to drivers without a driver license? This includes a driver license from any US state, territory or other country.

Before I get the ignorant answers about how no company does this, I know that some have and still may, and I know the rates would be very high.

My husband's car was stolen. It was recovered 9 days later. It was stripped. The interior completely missing , the exterior lights, the front bumper and passenger rims and tires where also missing. I have just been informed that by law I do not have to accept a stolen car back. That KS has this law because you have no idea what the thieves could have done to it while it was in their possession. Im trying to find out if this is true. I believe the car was stolen by someone who knows me and worried they might have sabotaged it even more than meets the eye. has anyone had any experience with this??

I know, I know get an attorney, but what if I deal with it myself? I was hit my a drunk driver, he fled, but cop saw the whole thing and caught him. I was injured and racked up about $14K in medical bills. Insurance co wants to settle. Anyone out there ever deal direcly with them? What sort of settlement amount should I seek. Attorney's all want 1/3 plus expenses. So i'll be out all pain and suffering and only have enough left to pay medical and vehicle damages. So What is the point?? Anyone delt with them directly?

1. My automobile damages totaled $2244
2. His car was totaled.
3. He got his third DWI in a year and fled the scene
4. Ruined my vacation.
5. Was in pain and suffered permanent nerve damage to left arm and hand.
6. He has a limit of $35K in coverage.
7. My underinsured and or uninsured equals

What should I ask for. No this POS has no assets of any type. He is a green card Alien, worked odd jobs.

After complete the traffic school, somehow the DMV-California did not dismiss my ticket. Until my insurance renewal coming up, they notified me of this ticket, I immediately sent the correction form to DMV to correct this and also sent a clarification to my insurance to explain this matter. My question is does my insurance can take this misshape by DMV to raise my premiums?

We purchased a new truck at a California dealership. We signed the contract and paid for the vehicle. Eight months later we get a form letter stating that they miscalculated the vehicle registration cost and that we owe them $211. They have sent me a second notice in less than a month. Is this legal? The sale is complete. Can they demand payment for their own mistake? We are going to talk to DMV this week. I believe, from watching The People's Court that it is a done deal, they signedthe contract and they can't come back 8 months later and say they charged us wrong- so pay up. I am not sure if this is a legally correct theroy. We looked at the contract to see if there was a loop hole in there for that, but they gave us the Spanish version and we can't read it. I will take them to small claims court if they try and send it to collections. Any thoughts? Thanks..-Cindy

I was rear ended last december, everything was ok until recently, I went to a chiropracter right after but I was still having problems and continue to have problems. I just had an MRI done and it shows that I have T7/T8 and T6/T7 are herniated slightly. Surgery is not required yet but may be required down the road. I am in constant pain everyday since the accident and have never had any previous back problems. the other person was 100% at fault and made no atempt to stop before slamming me at about 45mph. I received a check for the car about 1 week after. Now the insurance adjuster wants to settle the case. He offered 3 grand, right now I have about 2.5 grand worth of medical bills out of pocket ($4500 total but my primary health insurnace covered part of it)..I lost NO WORK from it but the doctor said I may have lifetime pain from it and I'll just have to live with it. Its possible it will get worse and cause my paralays later on. I'm an active 20 year old male....

Insurance is expected to rise by 10% for some brands of cars along with an expected £1.34 per mile road tax bill that is still in the pipe line could you afford to drive?
My insurance is 1300 per year and I have done 7,000 miles so I would be paying about 10680 per year! More than my car is worth!
