My husband's car was stolen. It was recovered 9 days later. It was stripped. The interior completely missing , the exterior lights, the front bumper and passenger rims and tires where also missing. I have just been informed that by law I do not have to accept a stolen car back. That KS has this law because you have no idea what the thieves could have done to it while it was in their possession. Im trying to find out if this is true. I believe the car was stolen by someone who knows me and worried they might have sabotaged it even more than meets the eye. has anyone had any experience with this??

Oh, I think it is still up to the insurance company. If the damage is under a certain level, they have the right to decided if it is a total loss or not. If it had been longer, and they had settled with you, they could offer you the car but it would then be your choice. This does sound like a lot of damage, though, so the question might be moot.

the only reason you wouldnt have to take it back would be if it is a total loss(sounds like it should be with all that damage) or if ks has the law you refer to. other than that its no different than an accident. you normally wont get a replacement car for any claim unless its a total loss.

Read you insurance policy. It is written to adhere to your state law. It should address the issue of repairing damage. If you are still not sure speak to your agent or the claims adjuster handling your claim. They will be able to explain how the claim is to be handled. Good luck.

i own a shop, and i been through it once in life, and that was enough, you don't have to accept it back,i wouldn't take it back, you are entitled to another vehicle for it,and your right usually they do other things to them, and i wouldn't want it back, after my trans-am got stolen and recovered id never take one back,it probably would have been better if they had finished the job, good luck i hope this help,s.
