Insurance is expected to rise by 10% for some brands of cars along with an expected £1.34 per mile road tax bill that is still in the pipe line could you afford to drive?
My insurance is 1300 per year and I have done 7,000 miles so I would be paying about 10680 per year! More than my car is worth!

That's the Labour Party for you !!!! 1.8 million signed the motoring online petition and there would be many ,many more motorists who weren't able to sign it but the damned Labour Party are still saying we are all wrong. Well we should vote them out at the next election.
MY GOD< we shouldn't have to change our cars to a smaller ones or walk everywhere ,or indeed use unreliable public transport. Whatever happened to freedom of choice ? We should be allowed to spend our hard earned money as we choose not as a set of pompous politicians who aren't even on our wave length tell us .

oh my god

I really am sorry, I totally agree with you thats how I feel too, it is more than the car we pay , I really do sympathise with you are hopr the following could help you

if you age between 17-25 or your older or experience doesnt actully matter, take the pass plus course as that ruducese the insurance, if your below the age of 25 it is going to be expensive, also the car type, like the engine size, the smaller the engine the cheaper the insurance.

But if you havent taken the pass plus do it ,it does reduce your insurance by half.

Don't just keep on Insurance company, ask around and see who gives the best quote.

good luck .

coming back to your additinaal details

It shouldnt be a case of Rich man drives poor man walks!

I 'm afaird that is true, a rich man does drive and a poor man walks lol, unless hes granted richness who knows

WOW! Why would anyone even consider wanting to pay that much to run a car?!
My partner has just had a car accident and the front of my car is smashed to bits. Luckily it's repairable, but I'm not looking forward to my next years insurance quotes.
We can comfortably afford to run my car at the moment but if what you say is true and my insurance goes up to more than twice what I've paid this year (£255) then I really don't know if it will be worth it, I've only got an Escort!!

When i turned 17 everyone told me i should start learning how to drive.

Im nearly 18 and all my friends are either learning or can drive.

The way i look at it.. im going to university in london in september..

so my choices are.. learn to drive.. pay for tests, pay for car.. pay for insurance, pay for road tax..emergency help services etc...

orrrr stick to public transport with a good ole student discount on the underground and start learning to drive in my final year of uni..

so by time i finish uni, il have a job and will be able to drive.

then il be poor and decided to work closer to home! ha

walking distance works for me x

No I could not afford to drive. They are forcing to find another means of travel. politicians are good at manipulating things like that. Freedom yeah right.

Why don't you do what they do in New Mexico. Just drive without it. They don't worry about not being able to afford it . They don't care.

If you can't afford to drive, you don't. I can't afford to fly everywhere, so I don't. Life's unfair.
