last night i rear-ended someone (my fault). it was one of those "low speed/no damage" that happened, but the guy decided to just let it go. no any form of information exchanged as if nothing happened. my question is did i do the right thing, or should i be worried????

I was driving along a road at night between 10-11 PM, and the next thing I knew I heard a loud boom so I stopped the car immediately and looked over and saw that my passenger side side-view mirror had been knocked off. I looked back and saw that I had hit a car door. I got out of my car and checked the damage: the side-view mirror was knocked off and there was a light scratch (barely noticeable and I could actually rub some of it off) along the length of the front and back passenger doors. The front passenger door handle was also knocked off. My friend who was in the passenger side told me she saw that the door that I had hit was wide open the entire time. I went and exchanged information with them and looked at their door (the second door on the driver's side, not the driver's door) and the outside edge was knicked. Probably around 2-3 inches.

I was wondering who is at fault? This was a pretty busy, 2-way road with lots of cars going back and forth. Is it their fault for having their

(I have another question on this open elsewhere)

My vehicle was stolen Dec 15th, 2006, was declared a total loss by State Farm on January 16th, 2007 because it wasn't found, and had me sign a Power of Attorney form to give ownership to them.

Consequently, the car was FOUND (totalled) on February 22nd, 2007. Someone had submerged it in a salt-water canal after trashing it.

Here is the sequence of events that transpired insurance-wise as a result:

1. I owed $34,000 to Lien Holder.
2. State Farm paid $26,000 to Lien Holder, and..
3. Gap Insurance contributed $5000 to Lien Holder.

Unpaid portion of that loan is $3000.00 which comes out of the pocket.

State Farm, NOW being the true owners of the vehicle can NOT retreive it from the Police Impound Facility because the Lien Holder will not give the title to anyone until the $3000 left on the loan is paid, and I don't have the entire amount up front. I would have to finance it.

What happens? It's in their name!

My Gap insurance claim kicked-in today after 3 weeks of waiting regarding my stolen vehicle.

The small print on the contract reveals that they will only cover 120% of the vehicle's MSRP. It does NOT cover any "upside down" carried over from a PREVIOUS vehicle. This was the reason I bought it to begin with!

End Result: Out of the $8800.00 I was upside down, they only covered $5000. and the rest comes out of my pocket.

Am I the only idiot in America that didn't read the fine-print?

Some *** ran into my car a month ago. When the police got there they issued no tickets. (Something about parking lots being private property and not being able to issue tickets on private property.) The guy had liability insurance. So, I called in to his insurance company to get my car fixed and they said there was a problem with his insurance. I got a message on the machine a week later telling me that he isnt covered and now my car is all banged up.
I live in Montana, and it is illegal to drive without insurance. I have insurance but my insurance company only covers up to $500 of damages. Plus, I am young and dont know what filing that will do to my insurance costs. (Because once I was rearended, totally not my fault, stated by the police and everything and my insurance still went up.) I am just a poor college student.
Do I just have to suck it up and realize I got screwed. Or, is there a way to get my car fixed.

Hi i got into an accident a while ago and now i received a letter from Allstate insurance saying that my policy coverage might not be enough to cover the claim of the other person who got injured. in the letter it says that i might want to get my own attorney.

Is this letter something that the insurance companies send that gets settled and i dont have to sweat it, or is this serious. someone told me this is just something that they do to let me know that they are fighting in courts and its a regular sort of thing and i wont need to worry about it. but untill i know for sure im very nervous.

my coverage was 100K per person 300K per incident and there were 2 people in the opposite car and no deaths, just neck and back problems, thats all i know.

So, anybody have any experience with this? what should i do? im a college student and i dont have money for an attorney.

I live in WA in case thats needed.

K, so my family bought a car for me, but "someone"(not me actually haha) screwed up in getting the title properly signed. Now the guy we bought it from is in a different country and won't be back for a few weeks(changing location too, so mail doesn't really work). Problem is, i'm extremly busy soon, and I need this car.

So I was thinking, since the law states the car must be registered in an adults name, i'm under 18, can I drive the car while it's registered in this guy's name? wouldn't that be the same as me driving the car registered in my mom's name?

I am so scared and feel like my life is over because I ended up hitting two cars and my insurance had expired a few months earlier because I didn't have the money to pay them. I was trying to make it to my next paycheck. Look, everyone, I know what I did was TREMENDOUSLY STUPID of me to operate a verhicle without being insured and I'll regret that forever now. The two guys in the other two cars were fine, though I was taken by ambulance to the trauma unit because my side and back hurt really bad and there were several gashes all over from the shattered glass. Police officers and everyone said I was VERY lucky as they don't see how I survived the wreck. But now I'm so depressed and will probably never be happy again. I feel like I want to die just because of the mess I've caused. What will hapen to me when I go to court? Will I be put in jail? Will my license be suspended? Will I be sued by the insurance companies or the persons involved or both? Serious answers only!

What does each letter and numbers represent on the drivers license? In Florida, the first letter is your last name. A bank teller told me ( I forgot where on the license) that there is a number in the middle that tells if you are a male or a female. The teller had a transvestite and the drivers license was able to tell the original sex of the person.

Which brings to the question, what does each letter and number stand for on the driver's license?

I am looking to buy a used car, but I am unsure as to what models/manufacturers will be set at a premium insurance fee. For instance, would a used BMW 3-series ($2000) cost more in insurance than a used Honda Accord ($2500)?
