Say I moved to Kansas with toto...does the local DMV check other states??

Yes...you and ToTo will have to find some kind of alternative transportation until Ca. releases the restrictions ( if any remain ) on your license , then you may obtain one in the state you are applying. Your insurance company will also check out your record. If it's all been taken care of, no worries, if not, get er done! Then get your license.

Sorry Dorothy..... this isn't the 30's anymore. The states all talk to each other now-a-days. Thats what happens when you give a bag of straw a brain.
Even in the application, you will have to disclose if 'you have ever held a drivers license in another state'. That gives you two choices.... If you lie and they catch you, you will not only not get a license, but for a long time your only time on the road may be picking up papers along the edges.
If you respond honestly, then they will discover your prior 'fax pas' and it will be considered in any issuance of a Kansas license.
Until you clear up the DUI, your best bet of getting around is to click those ruby slippers.

Yes you can get a license in another state as long as your issues in california are resolved. What I mean by that is as long as your license isn't still suspended and you have your SR22 filing. Then when you move to another state the have you turn in your california license and request your records from california. Then they have you conform to thier requirements or continue california's requirements. But if you are asking can you move to another state and get away as if you never had a DUI then the answer is no. Sorry :-(

you guys need to quit ragging on a man who I just trying to get his life back on track. further more I would put money on the fact the each and every one of you have drivin under the influence. Tell me you dident have wine or a beer at your last get together, or havent take your meds and had a emergancy arroned to run, or mabe you just got your tooth pulled and left the dentists driving. ya dentist give you pain meds, tell me you had someone to schauffer you around a full week after you had a tooth pulled or pulled a muscle.... you all are blind sheep falling for just another monopoly your government has been cashing out on. like sheep you follow what you are told to follow. FACT: texting and driving kills 3 to 1 against dui cases. FACT: your patriotism killed 50x the men women and children in wars waged for fast cash schemes. this man is no fool, this man wants to keep his life from falling apart. whats your excuse? and don't look to the wizard, he got shut down by your government for knowing to much and helping men be strong. they cant have that sort of thing in the United States of America

They have these laws for a reason and although you probably could. Chances are, you shouldn't.
If you decide to drink and drive and die as a result... Big deal, it's just a tree...
but that teenager or mother with the baby carriage trying to get out of your way... doesn't deserve it! Do try and think of someone other than yourself and take a sober friend with you next time...

There is a National Drivers Registry, that will prevent you from getting a licenses in any other state until you clear it up. You might get one in Kansas right away, but eventually they will pick it up

TYhey sure do! If California suspended your license, no other state will issue you one. All in all, its easier to quit drinking.
