ok i live in texas. my boyfriend borrowed my car to go to work. got in a minor accident where the worst damage was a long scratch. info was exchanged the thing is he has no d.l and so he's not insured, but my car is, full coverage. ok so info was exchanged and he left before cops got there because the guy said he(my boyfriend) could go cause he was late for work...i know i made a dumb decision but what happens now? the cop came by my house and said my car could get impounded and he would go to jail and i will get sued. is that true in most instances? thanks for your help. and i dont need comments on how bad a decision that was i already know....thanks

I bought a car from a private seller who desperately needed the cash as he was leaving the country. He told me he had bought it from a friend and it was a paperless title and I just had to take his receipt in to the DMV with the application to transfer the title. Well as soon as I get there the clerk straight away says it was Lien sale and I have to get all the paperwork from the seller (who is now in Hungry incognito) and that is the only way I can transfer the title. There is now one to contact and I have no idea who he bought through, does anyone have any idea what I do in this situation as I cant insure the car as it is not in my name. Help, please please please.

I always mix the 2 up for some reason. I know that insurance is to insure the car for any damages done to the other vehicle or your own vehincle, but what is a registration for. Is it to verify the owner of the vehicle. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was in my car at Blockbuster yesterday and a lady with her kids in the car parked next to me. She got out and her son in the back passenger seat hit my car. She said "Baby Boy you have to be careful"
Minor damage but a small dent is there on a new car. She could not see me in the car and I was shocked she left no note. So I moved my car away from her car (dont want another dent)

Went into Blockbuster & told her that her son hit my car. She said "What do you want me to do about it"? I told her I need her information and when I told her I heard her tell her son to be careful her eyes got big. She sent her older son outside and we exchanged info. He then told me I could get a tool at a auto store adnd pop it out.

I called my insurance and reported there info. We have the same insurance company. I have a $1,000 deductable. I don't think I should have to pay for it. thanks!

I'm thinking of buying a car for a cheap price but the car has no title.(project car)
I was told the previous owner file Bankrupcey. I guess the bank has the title.

How would I get a title for the car? Any LEGAL ways to work on this problem so I could drive the car in the near future if I buy it?

thanks

I was just wondering, In Florida, if a 17 year old male, who has had a license for less than a year, drives his parents car without being insured himself and his parents know and are ok with it. What are the chances that cops will pull you over just to make sure everything is legit, even though you didn't do anything wrong (I heard this happens with teens). And what are the consequences if you did get caught?

I am currently under my parent's auto insurance policy. However, I just bought a brand new car, and I want to buy insurance for my car at a different auto insurance place. Now, if I do buy insurance at a different auto insurance place for my brand new car, can I still drive my parent's cars?

I am currently stationed in Ohio and leaving for overseas within the next month. The date my vehicle re-registration is due is September....and I will not be back in the states until next October. Should I re-register for two years since I will not be back in the states on time the following year? I'm not sure if that is a good idea since I will not be returning to Ohio. I plan on putting my car in storage while overseas & don't particularly see the point in re-registering but I have been told that I must have my car registered since it is financed through my bank. If somebody could clarify that for me, that would be great. Also, since my car is financed, do I have to have full coverage insurance since it will be in storage or can I just get by with comprehensive?

My car was vandelized and set on fire. I went through all the proper steps with my insurance provider and was told to I would be transfered to the total loss dept. They said mostly likely its unrepairable and would have a tow truck come get it within 48hrs. The car was not at my residence. Now while the car has been sitting waiting to be towed the rims and tires were stolen. i called back to tell them they said this would be a seperate claim with another 500$ deductible. WTF! Am i responsible? was i suppose to not go to work and baby sit the car ? or have it towed somewhere and its already being considered a total loss? Do we have any power with insurance companie or are we suppose to just be grateful for what/if anything they give us?

My husband and I were involved in a car accident in June. It was not our fault (other person accepted full liability). Our car was totaled and has already been taken care of by the other insurance company. We were minorly injured and received medical treatment. The settlement offer just came in from their insurance company (Shelter). They will pay medical bills, time off work and threw in $400 for each my husband and myself. Is the $400 "extra" dollars normal? Should it be more or less? We have never had to deal with insurance companies before so have no clue what to expect for anything. Thanks for any insights.

My car was totaled about 2 weeks ago (my fault). I know that my finance company says that I'm required to have full coverage on the car at all times until it's paid off. Seeing as how my car is totaled and I don't even have possession of it anymore (my insurance company has it), can I cancel my insurance policy? I just don't see the need of paying insurance on a car I don't have and can no longer drive. I'm asking here on Yahoo Answers because my claims adjuster takes forever and a day to return my phone calls and my insurance premium is due in a few days.
