I always mix the 2 up for some reason. I know that insurance is to insure the car for any damages done to the other vehicle or your own vehincle, but what is a registration for. Is it to verify the owner of the vehicle. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You've got it right.

Insurance covers damages to the car and personal property and injuries to occupants.

Registration tells the state what type of car it is, who owns the car and assigns the license plates.

Registration: Shows who is the owner of the car.

Insurance: Shows the owner of the car is financially responsible if there is an accident that someone will be able to collect damages if the insured is at fault.

Registration is the paper you get (and are required to carry in the vehicle) when you get license plates for the vehicle. A law enforcement officer can check the registration against the plates to see if the two match. It has all the cars identification numbers on it also.
