Insurance & Registration - July 2007

I am comprehensively insured and I wondered whether the mini-coopers owner's 3rd party bit of their insurance covers my excess? What happens in these instances? My insurance company haven't seen fit to contact me to tell me what's going on, but they have approved the repairs. When do I pay the excess and to whom?

My sister got a car from a private car dealer and hasn't made ANY payments on it for about a year. She told me she got a letter in the mail the other day from the DMV that she needs to renew her tags. So a question that has me wondering is ... would the DMV still carry on with the normal procedure of notifying drivers if the car was reported stolen??

if i get a loan for a car through a credit company ..in order to get my insurance rate to go down can i put my dad as a driver? i mean as far as the dealer is concerned its paid cash since its paid with a check but my question is does my dad have to be on the loan to be the primary driver and me be secondary? or do i have to be primary..ive never been insured and in 22 and my dad cant buy the car because he has a pending social security thing..help!

I own a car. It has outstanding finance in my name on it and I still owe the finance company a lot of money.

My ex has sent off the log book and has filled it in in her name. She has come to me and has said that she wants my car!

Surely, no-one can transfer ownership of the car if there is still outstanding finance! I don't know what she thinks she is doing! Do I need to contact the DVLA and ask them what to do or can someone advise me legally?

I'm turning 16 in two months and ever since I was 13 my dad has been telling me he will buy me a car for my 16th birthday. Between 13 and 16 my parents ended up getting a divorce but my dad still insisted he was buying me that car as long as I had good grades and was deserving of it etc. So like I said my birthday is rolling around here in almost exactly two months and my dad told me since I don't live with him he can't pay my car insurance.
So is it true? Can my dad pay for my car insurance even if I don't live with him?

I recently reported a hit and run to my insurance to have my vehicle fixed. My vehicle was parked on the street in front of my home and it was struck somewhere in the middle of the night. The other party fled the scene. I was now charged for a deductible. Is this something insurances can do?

I just a bought a 03 Kawasaki zx6r , 3 months ago i paid for the bike im currently making payments on it , well as of a 7-23-07 i went to pay cash for the bike so i had no more payments , well they told me they have a lien on the bike from previous owner now how can they sell me a bike with a lien on it from another person ? , maybe im not understanding but i really want to get my title or at least memo so i can get plates They keep sending me Stupid temporary tags this is my 3rd one . i called last month to see if and when they were going to ship me my memo and they said it be there in 4 days , month passed and still nothing What should i do, Anyone have a answer .

Right, help needed. My car tax runs out on 31 July this year, my MOT certificate is valid until the 2 August this year. I can't get my car in for it's service and MOT until the 2nd August as the garage is booked up until then. Can I still tax my car for a year using this MOT certificate as don't want to be driving around for 2 days with no tax? I need use of my car on the 1st August but don't want to take the risk of having no tax even for 1 day. Looked on the DVLA website but can't find anything that says the length of time an MOT certificate needs to be valid for getting a new tax disc! Help?
