I just had my first accident last night and it totalled my car

It depends on the circumstances that led to the accident. By Texas laws, if you were drinking or commited a felony your CDL will be suspended for no less than one year... That is if you have a cdl... If you dont yet have a cdl and are trying to get a job as a truck driver, yes the accident may influence them not to hire you when the check your mvr... depends on the situation and the employer mostly...

I'm assuming it was your fault and you were ticketed. The only one who will make the decision is your current/potential employer. Some will not let you work with one moving violation. Others are more lenient. If you are employed and working, I would see if it will go on your record. You may see an attorney and get it reduced to a non-moving violation. (you'd be surprised what a little cash will do) Attorney probably will charge $150-$200. Good luck

only if the accident was dui related and your insurance rate might increase depending on whether the accident was property damage only, bodily injury or a dui

Probably not as long as you weren't cited for DWI or DUI.
