I purchased a car in April of last year. I was already married but had not yet legally changed my name, so the car was put under my maiden name. I moved to NY and while registering my car I decided to fix the last name while I was at it. The DMV would not allow it because the title was in my maiden name, even though I presented my marriage certificate! They said because the marriage certificate was dated in 2005 and the car was purchased in 2006 it didn't make sense. I explained about not changing my name right away but they still would not allow it. I think this woman just didn't know what the hell she was doing and after waiting there for so long I was frustrated and left. Was she just out of her mind and should I try to go back to a different DMV on long island, or is she right?

I am planning to purchase a new car for my son. Since he is contributing to the down payment with earnings from his summer job, I want to add his name to the title as a co-owner. With his name on the title, can I still hold the primary insurance coverage with him as a secondary driver, or will he have to get his own policy?

I can't seem to find any information on stray livestock liability, can someone help me?
About two weeks ago my partner and I were travelling 100kms an hour along a highway at 11pm when we hit a large horse. The horse ran from the right hand side of the road, hit the front right corner of the car, smashed the windscreen and flew up over the car crushing the roof. We're extremely lucky to be alive and the car (first thought to be written off) is currently being fixed. We found out later that the horse was on agistment and the gate was left open which is how the horse got out. The insurance company has told us the owner is not liable and my partner will have to pay the excess. He was only a few months away from rating one for life. What's going on? Can anyone shed some light on why we should have to pay for someone elses carelessness?

If you are in an accident,no matter how slight,no matter who is at fault, you Always call the police and notify your ins co.If you call the police and they say they won't come you can at least say you called the police and they said they wouldn't come you can at least say you called them.
If you don't do this, you run a serious risk of getting s@@@@@d!

I havent had a license in 7 years and I'm ready to get it back. But I've recently gotten a job offer and can't wait a few months to drive. Do they issue special permits that allow you to drive only to and from work?

I am a lady in my 60's. I am a car person, having Classic Shows Cars for years. So...I take great care of all my cars. They are in A1 condition. I have an '85 Buick Regal that I have been paying full coverage insurance on for 22 yrs. The car is immaculate. Blue book at this point is very low. Under $2,000. I recently hit a tree with the right front of the car and the estimate is $3,200 to fix it. Needs a fender, hood and other items. The insurance company says they will not pay to fix it because the value is lower that the cost to fix it. BULL I told them. I have been paying you for 22 yrs and have FULL ($300 deductible) COVERAGE. What Legal Theory are you using? If I pay you, then you pay me, no matter what the cost is. That is what I pay that premium for every year. My question: How can they do this? It can't be legal! If they won't fix it then they should return all my premiums. right?

Someone totaled my car in a 3-car accident a few weeks ago. The person-at-fault's insurance company refuses to pay for my rental car and is dragging their feet on providing the necessary paperwork so that I can go forward with my gap insurance company and the auto financing company. The other two drivers have the same insurance company. I think they're trying to force me to file it as a collision claim with my insurance, but then I'm out my deductible. This doesn't seem right to me. Any opinions? Anybody experienced this before?

This happened in Texas. I can give more details if someone thinks they can give me some advice.

So, I am a teenage driver. I accidently, while getting out of the garage, left my car in drive. I ran into (not going terribly fast) a stack of four plastic organizer boxes and my sister's electric scooter handlebar. My car was fine, no dents at all in my plastic bumper. The plastic shelves seemed to be fine, they had only a minor dent.

So, I look behind the plastic shelves. There's a large hole/dent in the wall. However, it isn't shaped right. It's an odd, circular, no square shape.

Is it possible my car did that? The metal handlebar merely left a small bruise on the wall (nothing at all). The organizers were fine. The hole was not in the right shape for the organizers.

Did I make that hole?

I was pulled over for expired tags and was ticketed. I could not find my current info on car insurace but I was not cited for no car insurance. Anyway, paid the ticket, now I am in trouble for the insurace...which I have proof that I had at the time, but could not find it. Now I have a bench warrent and driving priviledges suspended. Called court clerk they said..I have to show up not just fax over insurance info. I am out of town. What should I do? This happened in Kansas.
