Insurance & Registration - June 2007

As an 18 year old man, I think that it is unfair that car insurance is higher for me than for some girl. Don't get me wrong, I love being a guy and wouldnt change it for the world, but even though I am a careful driver, I still have to pay more insurance simply because of the way I was born. I didnt even get a chance to screw up. If insurance was higher for blacks then they would be having a cow. What do you think?

Long story short, I backed into some pallets of stone blocks my neighbor had delivered and left on the street. There were 4 pallets, and I hit the last one (all in a line straight out of their driveway, approx 16feet into the roadway). We live in a cul de sac.
I came out of the driveway at an angle to avoid the other neighbors car, didnt see the pallet in any mirror or out any window (it was only 14" high, same color as the asphalt and it was pouring rain) and badly damaged the back end of my car at only 5km/h. Estimate from a friend in the biz, $1500+.
Of course, I'm an idiot, as I knew they were there. I was going to pay to fix it myself. But everyone I have told says go through insurance, my company will go after his. The law says you cannot park anything other than registered vehicles temporarily, therefore not my fault, its his and his homeowners insurance should pay.

What to do?

It should be against the law since everyone must carry car insurance. Also, what does my low credit score got to with my great driving record? Sounds like another reason to raise rates because most credit scores are low across the board. If someone pays their insurance company on time and has a good driving record should be their only concerns. Doesn't that make sense to raise car insurance rates to persons that had a hard time paying a bill, bit made all their car insurance payments on time. If there are others out there mad about this issue please help me do something about this robbing...

This is probably a stupid question, and I'd say the answer is likely no, but anyway...I'm about to lose my license for 6 months for first offense DUI in the state of WV. If I were to move out of state after this happens, it wouldn't be possible for me to get a license from the new state I live in until my 6 months is up, would it? I've been thinking about moving to North Carolina anyway, and if if the answer were yes, I'd definitely make the move, but if the answer is no, which I assume it probably is, I'll probably just stay here. Also, there is no way to get around this by getting an international drivers' license, is there?

We were rear-ended at a red light back in Feb. Police was called and a report filed. I ended up going to see a Chiropractor from Feb - May for treatment for my neck. The bill is close to $2000. The insurance of the person who hit us only wants to pay $500. What can I do? Is it going to cost me if I get a lawyer. I don't want any extra money. I just want the bill payed. I don't have the money to pay the difference (1500) Will threatening them with a lawyer get them to work work with me? I am not sure what my options are. thanks..

I received an estimate from my local dealer, it turned out to be $2,200 in damages. I wanted to go through her insurance, but their "estimate" is about $1,100. If I go through my insurance, I have to pay $1,000 deductible which I shouldn't have to seeing it was not my fault. I've been waiting for a month since the accident and still don't know what to do...they are screwing me over I think...

Everything else has been signed correctly. I have contacted him and he isn't helping me at all. He doesn't answer his phone and when I text him saying I will take legal action he calls me and begins to curse me out saying that I am harrassing him. Is there anyway I can register the vehicle to me. I have a bill of sale and title. The bill of sales has been signed correctly. The title has that 1 mistake of him signing in the place I was supposed to sign. He completely ignores all communication from me by just not answering or texting me saying he's to busy. Any suggestions? I live in Louisiana.

I just brought back a european registration plate to put on my back bumper just for kicks and wondering if new jersey state law allows you to put additional plates on your car along side the legal plates I already have. I guess I'm kind of using it as a bumper sticker...I don't see what the difference is?
