Studies have shown male drivers at a younger age drive faster, and reckless so therefore all male drivers are force to pay more. Unfair yes don't worry when you turn 21 with a good driving record your insurance will go down depending on the car you drive and where you live.

The amount you pay for insurance depends on several things.... One of them is your sex..... Males under 25 or 30 are typically charged more for insurance because they are the risk takers ( speeding, reckless driving, etc ) in comparison to girls.
( When was the last time you heard of a girl being charged with reckless driving? ) It's a good possibility that way of thinking by the insurance companies will change soon. When I'm driving, I've noticed that many drivers aren't paying full attention to driving .. because they are talking on a cell phone. Of those talking on phones...... I've noticed that the majority are women. I wonder how many of those rush hour fender-benders are because someone was on a cell phone?
Other factors figure into how much you pay for insurance........ where you live, and the population density, and what type of car you drive....... (Girls generally aren't running around in a souped up Mustang or Camaro, or a nose-bleed tall 4X4.) The insurance companies base their premiums on numbers of accidents and the driver's profile... Once you reach 25-30 yrs old, many of the insurance companies reduce the premium because they figure that you've matured and have slowed down a bit and become more responsible. I agree that it is unfair to pick on the younger guys..... but until the numbers change, guys will be paying higher premiums.

Yes its sexist. I'm 19 and looking for a new car and all the insurance companies are like its going to be 2500 or more to insure you for a year. They must think I have trees in my front yard that has money growing from it. I havent even been in an accident or even gotten a ticket.
Women are worse drivers. There driving down the road stuffing there face or looking in the mirror trying to do there makeup. It's ridiculous!

They don't, when you're talking about health insurance. They don't, in a few states where everyone has to pay the same higher rate. Of course it's discriminatory. "Discriminatory" means, making a difference between one thing and another. Going to a restaurant and choosing something off the menu, is discriminatory. Putting on two shoes that match, rather than the first two shoes you see, is discriminatory. Heck, eating from a plate in the kitchen, rather than a dumpster outside a restaurant, is ALSO discriminatory. It's also FAIR. And unless you want to pay the same rates as someone with five cars, unless you want to pay the same rates as someone who has three at fault accidents and five DUI's, you, too, believe in "discrimination". You're only squawking about it, because in THIS case, it's working against you.

They use statistics to rate how risky behavior effects the outcome of accidents, and the likelihood of serious injury. They have found that young men in their teens through age 25, are far more likely to cause damage, race and drive recklessly. So, insurance companies don't want to have to pay for damages because you drove recklessly, it was costing them millions of dollars. Now, the age group as a whole has to pay because of those statistics. It's not fair, but until those stats get better, it won't change.

It depends on what state you live in. In most States single males pay higher rates. You may get a better rate if you get married or have minor children. Insurance companies think that makes you more responsible. Your right its not fair. Not all males are riskier drivers. Times have changed.

Of course it is, which is why women's insurance drops at 21 and men's insurance FINALLY drops at 25.
The most current studies on this are from 30-40 years ago. Maybe some new data in order?

Sorry, sporto. It's called guilt by association. Car insurance is based on pure statistics, and you are part of the age and gender group that is responsible for the highest number of claims. There is no other fair way to charge. The way your age and gender drives, I am surprised you people can even get car insurance.

Yeah, it is sexist, but it has to be. Think of the reverse situation. Every women on earth complaining because there insurance premiums are as high as men's and....... just don't go there. It sucks, but it has to. Either way, someone gets screwed.
