You need a LEGAL reason to obtain vehicle registration data (e.g., you were the victim of a hit-and-run). Motor vehicle records are private and confidential, as per the Drivers Privacy Protection Act.

In most states, this information is not available to the general public. Only official agencies can look up a license plate number - police, dmv, etc.

Would you want somebody to be able to look up your license plate and find out who you are and where you live? Think about it...

Have a friend that works for the DMV or is a cop. You will have a problem getting it yourself, since it would be an invasion of privacy. Good luck.
