Print off a close image of google earth if the area is available, if not, take pictures.
But to be honest, it really doesnt need to be a masterpiece and you could get someone to draw it for you as you describe it.

Try downloading from www.multimap.com They have details of the road layout but you will have to add things like traffic lights and road markings yourself.

Google maps usualy has everything mapped out well. Google earth is amasing, depending on how detailed the photography the area in question is you could even bring areal photos of the area.
