The answer "NO" is a common misconception. In many states, they will cover it, because they technically have to - but they will make your life hell on earth after that - you will have to add him and pay an astronomical rate - OR they will try to cancel your policy, claiming your lied or falsified your documents by not including him or reporting him later on.

My audo insurance policy has a discount because no one under age of 25 is permitted to drive it.
If anyone under age 25 drives my car and has some problem, my insurance does not cover it.
Suppose there had not yet been accident.
Suppose you called insurance company and asked to have your child included on the policy.
Annual financial cost would have gone through the roof.
There are reasons for this.
Thus, it is quite probable that you are not covered for the damage done by your son to
* your car
* other person property
* your son medical expenses
* other person medical expenses
* liability
In many states, a person cannot get a driver's license unless they can show the DMV proof of what insurance thay have.
This means either that
* your son not driving in such a state
* your son has OTHER insurance that should be covering this, not yours
* your son was driving illegally

No. No insurance company will cover damage from a household member who isn't listed on the policy, especially a teenager.
The other guy's uninsured motorist will cover it, and their insurance company will chase your son. Since he's a kid and can't pay, they'll chase you as owner of the car.
If you can manage it, pay the damage yourself and don't let the kid drive your car anymore.

Unless your son is excluded from your policy it should be covered, the only exception might be if he lives with you and you did not report that to the insurance company. If he doesn't live in your home you should be fine.

2 months ago, my 16 year old son who has no license and never took drivers ed decided to drive my truck. He made it 4 miles from the house before he took a turn too fast and bounced off a curb into a truck waiting for a red light. Even though he did not have my permission to drive, my insurance company covered both vehicles (mine was totaled). Why? Because my truck was insured and he lives in my household.

Nope, and you can be sued by the people he hit. In order for him to be covered under your policy, he either must not live in your home, or he is written as a part time driver, because he does live in your home.

Insurance follows the car -- unless your son is EXCLUDED on the policy you are covered.

probably not. you can be sued by the other driver for allowing someone to drive your car that was not covered the only way to get around that is to have reported it stolen BEFORE the accident occurred

Probably not. Maybe call them and see if he can be added to your policy immediately. Good luck...
