It depends on what state you're in. In New Jersey, the answer is yes. Any kind of moving violation will accumulate points which will increase the premiums on an insurance policy. I assume you're covered under your dad's policy, so yes, anyone covered under his policy will likely increase his premiums. If you are not covered, that's worse. The responsible thing to do is tell him upfront and not surprise him later when it's time for the next payment.

As the driver of the vehicle, you are responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle. That also includes making sure the tag is current & there's insurance on the vehicle. Just because the car belongs to your friend doesn't mean you are exempt from the law. The cost of the ticket will vary depending on what state/town you're in. Just show up to court on the day written on the ticket & tell the judge what happened. You might not get out of paying the fine, but you never know...

Only if you are the rated driver on the insurance policy. Your insurance could be affected if not. It is the driver that a ticket or an accident is reflected on not the vehicle.

It could. But you won't see any change until the policy comes up for renewal. At renewal the policy will be reviewed by the underwriting department of the insurance department and they will determine if they are going to change the rate or not. It varies by insurance companies.

Depends on the insurance company. Most have a policy to forgive the first ticket, but the second will cost you, and may cost you your insurance as they may drop you.

Actually, the answer is YES depending on the offense. If the offense includes points, when its time to renew the policy on the vehicle, the insurance company will raise the premium.

From what I was told, yes it will. If not now, it will when he renews his premium.
