I am coming back to Beirut after a business trip outside Lebanon, is it safe for me to come now or shall I wait? Is everything open fine in Beirut or most are closed? (offices and shops I mean?)

Hi All,

My husband and myself might come to Geneva in Feb for some business. We plan to stay in Lucerne for 3-4 days and see the alps (Pliatus) and go around the city and maybe visit Interlaken.

BUT, Can someone give a realistic picture of weather in February?? I read in another thread that Feb is 'bleak, unbearable and worst time of the year'!! :-((

We are not into skiiing. But we surely would love to generally roll and play in the snow :-)) and of course take a leisurely walk around the city and do some cruises.

We can understand the mountains to be freezing cold..but what about the city..will there be too much snow? Is it worthwhile in Feb?? Please help!!

Thanks so much.

G'day! :) I've lived in Australia all my life and I wonder what it's like for those of you who have come for a visit or holiday. Could you please answer these questions:
(1) Where did you go in Australia?
(2) When did you come here?
(3) How long did you stay?
(4) What were your highlights / memorable moment?
(5) What did you think of the locals?
(6) Anything negative?

Thanks!!!

I have looked on line and can not find a hotel with rooms in Venice in September 2007. What is going on in September in Venice?

Also can you recommend a hotel that is around 400 a night or less?

I absolutely loved my trip to America this l;ast fall. It was amazingly beautiful, but I had a difficult time understanding their thick accents. I traveled to the east coast, midwest, and west coast, and found their accents slightly different in each area, yet still equally hard to understand. I find it funny that anywhere I went, they tend to run their words together ( a lot like the irish!) and even not pronounce certain letters at all. Ex: Mirror was pronounced "meer" Crayon was always "cran". Lots more, but my question is- What do you do when you travel across the pond to make it easier for you to understand the accents?

I will be starting graduate school in the fall as will my fiance, soon to be husband. He will be attending Manhattan School of Music in Morningside Heights and I will be attending Hofstra University in Hempstead. We need a good half-way point to live so that neither one of us has to commute too much. We won't have a lot of money and were looking into living in Queens. Any suggestions?

My partner is Canadian and he wants us to move from Sydney to Vancouver. I like it there but I am worried about finding a job, missing home and raising kids in a place where it rains so much, is so cold and where you have to pay for incoming phone calls. What would you do? How can I convince him that Australia is a better future for us?
