I'm buying some travel books for the guy I'm seeing, he's going to a few countries like vietnam, cambodia, thailand...

What should I look for when purchasing them? Are there any really good ones to buy? What would be helpful in them - phrases, places to see etc? I have never been travelling so I have no idea!

I travel into asia on a regular basis and need to avoid specific dates. Rather doing an individual seach on the internet as to whether any countries I'm about to visit have a bank holiday / celebrate chinese new year, etc, it would be nice to have a single page which I could print out... I don't mind even buying a paper calander if there is one!!

The main countries which I travel between are Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, etc etc

Does anyone know of a site that either sells or offers good calanders displaying Asian events at a reasonable glance, rather than searching by each country!!??

Which country do u think is the best in south asia.
Nepal, india, pakistan, bangladesh, maldives, srilanka and bhutan.
I think Nepal because of the innocent people, diverse culture and rich natural heritage. It is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha and it is where Mount Everest is.

I found this in some things that had not been opened for I know at least 25 years. Who knows how long before that. I just want to know what it is , what it might have been used for, and a date for it.There are 7 photos total.

Lao Air email has reservation number and "confirmed". The email at bottom says, "You will be receiving an e-Ticket Itinerary within 72 hours once the e-ticket is issues". Anyway the confirming email is the only thing I have at this point and it has been several weeks.

I've been lucky in that in my job I've been invited to visit the above three countries.... The drawback is, that despite the connections, my job doesn't pay that much money!!

So, from the above countries, which would you recommend I visit? I can only really choose one in the near future.
