There are several ways to travel to Jakarta from Bangkok.

1) Fly directly -- I suggest flying Thai Airways, not Garuda (the Indonesian airline) as Garuda aircraft are poorly maintained.

2) Train to Singapore then (a) fly to Jakarta (b) Hydrofoil to Paula Bidong in Indonesia then fly to Jakarta.

3) Bus to Singapore then one of the two alternatives given in #2.

4) Catch a ride on a Freighter (ship) directly to Jakarta.

Personally I would choose the flying direct, which I have done several times in the past.
