I am going on a Royal Carribean cruise, more specifically the Mariner of the Seas. How often does formal night occur and how strict are the guidelines?

Also, is dinner on the boat always assigned or does the company give you more latitude on where and who you sit with?

I quite like the idea of going on a cruise holiday [Caribbean or red sea maybe] but my girlfriend is adamant that they are full of 'biddies' [apologies, no offense intended to all you old-timers ] are there any cruises that cater for younger couples or is the 'old people' stereotype true for all cruise holidays ? We've looked at easy-cruise but its looks a bit too chavvy. i am 26 she is 25.

I realise that i will probably get a tirade of abuse from all the oldies out there but this is a genuine question

My fiancee and I are trying to think of honeymoon destinations and we're talking about possibly going on a cruise. Neither of us has ever been on one so we don't really know a whole lot about it. Can someone tell us what kind of stuff we would look forward to if we chose to take one for our honeymoon, like the pros and cons of choosing a cruise? What was your personal experience like and would you do it again if given the chance?

Has anyone had any experience going to the port the day of departure and trying to score a really cheap price on a cruise? I have heard of this through the rumor mill, but have not been able to get any details. How about any other ways to get super bargains on cruises?

We are going on a cruise in April (Carnival out of Galveston) and I am looking at buying radios so I can keep in contact with my boys. Has anyone rented them on the boat? If so what was the price for the rental?

I am looking for a cruise that goes to Monte Carlo, Athens, and Rome for sure. Also, I want to go to Gibraltar, Santorini, and Olympia, but those are not as important as the first three.

Also, a round-trip to the same country is preferable.

If anyone can give me a list of cruises that go to these places, that would be great.

Thank you...

I am leaving on the Spirit in a few days, and wanted to get some previous passengers experiences of how they made dinner reservations. I read a few stories about people getting up early to make their reservations, and did not understand why they did not just make them the night before. Can you make them days in advance? Are the shows at a set time so you can plan several days in advance? Can you just show up at the main dining room at 6:00 and get a table, or?

I am going on a cruise to the Mediterranean Sea and had a list of places which sounded nice. Out of the following, which would you reccommend for a family of three 21-25 year olds and two 50 year old parents?

Rhodes, Greece
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Athens, Greece
Santorini, Greece
Gibraltar, UK
Olympia, Greece
Ephesus, Turkey
Mykonos, Greece
Limassol, Cyprus
Barcelona, Spain
Ibiza, Spain

Any personal information you have on things to do at these or the best possible choices would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows of cruises to a good combination of these places, that would be great.
Thank you...

We will most likely be leaving from Galveston and it will be a one week cruise in the Caribbean. Is there ever an off season for cruises? We would like to go when it is a bit slower with less people.

We will also be using either Carnival or Royal Caribbean.

On my last cruise I was assigned to a table for 6 people for dinner. It was evident within a few minutes that there was no personal chemistry between any of us. The people were just on a different wave length. I did not like them and they did not like me. I wanted to leave but the whole dinning process took about 90 minutes. We tried some small talk but nothing happened. There was long periods of difficult ill at ease silence. Everyone looked terribly uncomfortable.

At the next evening we attempted to change tables but were told that was impossible. So we had to spend every evening with these people. It spoiled our cruise. Can you relate?

I saw a Princess Cruise ship (I believe it was the Island Princess). I noticed that on each side of the smokestack, there were silver cylinders mounted horizontally that looked something like a jet engine. Does anyone have any idea what those are?

Neither my fiance or I have been on a cruise but we would like to go on one for our honeymoon in June. I am always planning trips with Expedia so I browsed there to see what cruises are out there. I'm not sure what exactly to look for. I feel so clueless. I guess any advice would be wonderful. A few of my questions are:

Should I use a source like Expedia or an actual cruise line's website?
What does the price you pay include?
What do I need to know when trying to plan?

Thanks for any help!!

Is airfare a seperate expense or is it included in the price of a cruise?

I've never been on one but I've heard they are fun. Are they good for kids? Mine is 12 and I want to do something she will really enjoy. Are certain cruises better than others? What's the best one you've gone on... I'd be looking for lots and lots of activites especially for kids. Thanks for your input.
