The food is almost always amazing ! What me and my family do on a cruise, is we take the stairs. Since we like to enjoy the food on the cruise we take the stairs unless we have a lot to carry which is very rare.

This way you dont gain as much weight while you are on your amazing cruise vacation. I am going on a cruise tomorrow, I am so excited but I am ready to walk many stairs. haha....

ENJOY VACATION :)

The average is about 1 pound per day of cruising. That is if you do nothing active. I gained 3 pounds total on a 10 day cruise last spring, but my husband and I always take the stairs and love to do very active excursions. We went sea kayaking, hiking and snorkeling. Many people also take on water weight, Its from all the salt they put into the food. Some people will tell you its from the water in the tap, because they take sea water and desalinate it. The method they use can NOT leave any salt in the water you drink, and tastes quite good. I lost my 3 pounds 2 days after I got home. The food is very good and there are multiple choices for every appetizer, salad, entree and desert for every meal. I've never had a bad meal on board. Bon Voyage.

Ive been on 6 cruises in 18 months and luckily Im busy enough with excursions and stuff to not gain more than a pound or 2. There is no doubt if all you do is park yourself by the buffett 15 pounds is a definate possibility. The availabilty of food 24/7 makes it easy Choose excursions that get you moving like snorkeling, I knopw its hard but also try to consume less alcohol that will help Have fun

Not likely you will gain 15 pounds, but you will more than likely gain 2 to 5. Don't worry too much about the gain, you have the rest of the year to diet......but only a few days a year to cruise.

it depends. i gained 12 my last cruise 2 years ago. but i am one of those folks that enjoys the food and drank beer/alcohol pretty much all day and laughed at those that i saw going to/from the on-board gym since i was friggin vacation and was there to enjoy myself. i did shed the 12 pounds off over the 2 weeks following the cruise, though.

my next cruise is in about 7 weeks and i am going to hit the local gym a little harder before i go and drop some weight...only to add it back on during the cruise and then work it back off the weeks following.

The food on cruise ships is great and plentiful. No matter what you like to eat there is some of it 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, or as long as you are on the ship. I have been on almost 20 cruises and the menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the midnight buffets, are great. At breakfast all of the bacon, ham, eggs, pancakes, waffles, danish and fruit you care to eat. Lunch has hot meals like Italian and/or Chinese foods along with hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, soups and salads. And all of the pizza you care to eat. Then if you miss lunch just go to your room and order room service. For dinner all of the ships have great menu items like steak, prime rib, lobster, grilled salmon and other fish, roast duck, pork and/or lamb and just about anything else in between. Most ships, except Carnival, no longer do the midnight buffet but you can still get something to eat 24/7 at an eating place somewhere on ship.

So, if you are not careful you will easily gain weight. Maybe not 15 pounds, unless you eat all of the deserts and free ice cream they have to offer.

As an experienced cruiser I have learned to just say no to too much food. And I still enjoy.

IF YOU WANT TO YOU CAN... I FIND THAT THE FOOD IS GREAT, AND IF YOU DO A LOT OF WALKING WHILE IN YOUR PORTS OF CALL,THE WEIGHT GAIN CAN BE CUT TO ZERO... SO HAVE FUN, EAT ALL YOU WANT, AND WORRY ABOUT IT LATER... YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE AND IF YOU DO IT RIGHT ONCE IS ENOUGH!!!

no - unless you eat at the buffet 24/7 ... get out and jog, go to the gym, rock climb. Keep active and it will be smooth sailing.
