Someone I know has been in a relationship with a girl from the Philippines for over a year now, he is from Canada. They talk through the internet, by phone, and through letters. I'm not going to get into too much detail, but their relationship seems to be alot better and more believable than that of the ones commonly heard of were the Filipina girl is taking advantage of a foreigner over the internet for money. He has always been careful and not had to be suspicious till now. She has never asked for money even when he offered, but he has been extra cautious ever since she told him yesterday that her father had a stroke. She said that here father had a stroke and that her family needs 7000 pesos for him to be admitted into the hospital. Apparantly his left arm and legs cannot move and he is having trouble speaking, but the family is too poor to send him to the hospital. He knows this, but he wants to be extra careful that he is not being taken advantage of. Is she telling the truth??

My daughter was staying in London for 5 1/2 months (stayed a bit too long) left to go to Spain for 4 days and was not allowed back into London on return. The customs pulled her aside, went through her things and saw information saying she had been working in London as a nanny (illegally). Now she has an entire apartment full of things she cannot retreive, a bank account she cannot get to, is heartsick and sitting in a hostel in Spain, alone (they sent her back from where she came.) Any way to go around this crazy system they have in place? Any input on how to reenter London if only for a few days to staighten out her life and pack her things? Anyone ever been in this situation? Any help would be great. Thanks

I can see why Americans are -
America is a superpower.
America is the richest nation.
America is the strongest nation.
America is the most technological nation, after Japan.
America is the beacon of freedom.
Most international companies are American - Walmart, Kmart, Microsoft, just to name a few.
America has invented the plane, car, TV, radio, computer, internet, almost everything we use in our everyday lives.
But why are Australians proud of their nation? Sure, they may have the great coral reef and a big rock, but what's so great about them? What have they contributed to the world besides Steve Irwin (May he rest in peace)? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to offend anyone here but I'm just curious. That's all.
PS I DON'T WANT AMERICANS ANSWERING THIS QUESTION. I WANT TO HEAR AUSTRALIA'S POINT OF VIEW

I saw a TV show that showed a restaurant with lots of windows and when the Magic Kingdom does the fireworks - this restaurant dims the lights inside the restaurant and they play the same music and you could watch the fireworks from inside the restaurant. I want to say that it's California Grill or Kitchen, but not sure.

My son will turn 2 yrs. old in 3 months, I need to know where would be the BEST amusement park or place to take him...somewhere he would really enjoy. He's been to Sea World, Knotts, San Diego Zoo, LegoLand. He just had a big party on his 1st b-day. So, this time we were thinking of taking him somewhere nice on his 2nd b-day. Disneyland is my 1st choice but I need more suggestion. Thanks!

First, we will be traveling from Canada and in the past have brought American money with me to exchange for pesos. According to XE.com, $1 USD = 10 Pesos and $1 CAD = 9 Pesos. Should I even bother to exchange to American?

Secondly, We usually travel to the Dominican and bring items for the maids & staff like perfumes, lotions and shampoo, clothes, children toys and school supplies. And was wondering if the staff in Mexico would appreciate it as well?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help

I'll be flying northwest airlines, they didn't say food was prohibited in the checked luggage, and I heard you can bring food no problem since its domestic flight. I'm planning to bring some cooked food in closed containers in the luggage that I will check, no liquids or anything. wondering if anyone else had any experience with this?
