Do they wear an icepack on their body?

Well, I watched Modern Marvels: Walt Disney World on the History Channel and have it on DVD. They explain how the stunt men/drivers in the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show keep cool in there cars. They have a suit that has tubing stitched all over it, and in under the hood of the car is a cooler of cold water. The tubes of the suit are connected to the cooler, and during the performance the cold water is continuously pumped through the tubes, keeping the drivers' body temperatures down. Not all of the characters have these suits, but they've been developing them for some particular characters, like Sully from "Monsters Inc.," because Sully's costume is very big, heavy, furry, and obviously hot. I know some of the characters that have large heads do have small fans installed to help keep them cool. But the main way all the characters stay cool is by switching roles constantly. They have multiple cotsumes for each character. For example, Donald Duck comes out ti sign autographs. He'll stay out for about 10-15 minutes, leave for a moment, and then return. When this happens Cast Members are switching roles. There's already another Cast Member dressed in another Donald Duck costume so he may go out as soon as the other comes in. This way they aren't standing out in the heat for too long.

Hope I could help!

We live in triple digit heat, over 20 days so far. Freeze water in old soda bottles and wrap a towel around it. Ceiling fans are good things. Gracie has a kiddie pool she swims in after her walk. Comb the dogs daily. Hose the dogs down if it is really bad. We switch to a summer schedule, so play time and walks are done in the middle of the night, and a lot when it is dark out. We do walks early in the morning when it is dark or just before sun up. We don't let them out much during the heat of the day.

Cast Members who have a role as a character have pretty high-tech suits. They weren't always built this way. Today, the suits are made of a special breatheable material. They also have fans inside. However, Florida's heat and humidity still packs a punch. Cast Members can only be outside in the suits for so long. Each character is escorted by another Cast Member. The character has a signal, like tapping their right foot three times, to let the escort Cast Member know that the character needs out of the suit pronto. This is why Disney characters come out for book signings and photos for about 15-20 minutes and then go back inside.

Some of the bigger costumes have small fans but generally they have ice paks that are in the costume.
