My daughter was staying in London for 5 1/2 months (stayed a bit too long) left to go to Spain for 4 days and was not allowed back into London on return. The customs pulled her aside, went through her things and saw information saying she had been working in London as a nanny (illegally). Now she has an entire apartment full of things she cannot retreive, a bank account she cannot get to, is heartsick and sitting in a hostel in Spain, alone (they sent her back from where she came.) Any way to go around this crazy system they have in place? Any input on how to reenter London if only for a few days to staighten out her life and pack her things? Anyone ever been in this situation? Any help would be great. Thanks

What is crazy about it ?
She broke the rules - she got caught and kicked out.
Perhaps you should have brought your daughter up to obey the law.
What nationality is she ?

You will find that as she has been denied entry, she will not be allowed back into the country. Her passport will have been stamped with a denied entry stamp, this may have other issues when entering other countries around the world.

You may want her to get in touch with the Consulate at the British Embassy in Spain to see what they can do but i think you will find very little help as the UK is clamping down on illegal immigrants. I am not sure where you are from but you could try and find a community group from where you are from, there are loads of groups for South Americans and Asians etc that will have access to specialist lawyers.

Once she's broken the immigration laws it's going to be very tough to sort out. I doubt the UK government is going to be sympathic to her pleas if she was living and working illegally. Her best bet is probably to return home from Spain and to have someone else travel to London to pack her things. She should be able to access her bank account via a cash card (debit card). Normally those work in other countries. She's not likely to be allowed back into the UK and that includes that she may have trouble traveling there as a visitor in the future.

There is nothing about this situation which is crazy. Your daughter was working here illegally after overstaying her visa, and deserved to be denied entry. How would you feel about illegals being in your country!

The best option is to either contact immigration to see what to do, the people she was working for illegally or for you to come and sort it out yourself...and while you are at it, put the blame fair and squarely where it belongs, and that is with your daughter not the UK immigration or customs department.

If all she needs to do is to pack her things and sort out her bank etc, I think its more practical for her to ask one of her friends to help her out. She must have made friends with someone who can be trusted. She can transfer funds etc online or on the phone, or write a letter to her bank. Her stuff can also be packed by someone else and cargoed to where you want.
Keep your spirits high at this difficult time and dont lose hope.

I have no sympathy for your daughter, she flouted the law and is now paying the price , far too many illigal immigrants flout the laws of my country and SHOULD pay the consequences.

the best thing to do is for her to contact your embassy in spain inform them of the situation they will probably arrange for her things to be shipped to either her in spain or to your country..... word of advise dont break the law and if you do.. dont be stupid enough to get caught...... where are you from????
