I have a 4 hour layover at Zurich airport around 7:00 AM...which I thought would not be enough time to see anything.

But then I found out that there are frequent trains that only take about 10 mintues to get into the city center.

Would I have time to hop a train to Zurich...take a quick walk around, take a couple pictures, and catch the train back to the airport?

Also, if I wanted to pick up some chocolate in town for a gift, would carrying it back into the airport lengthen the time it would take me to check back in at the airport?

I know in English the village is pronounced Vildersville, but I am not sure how to spell it the Germanic way. Can anyone help out? I want to look it up on Google Earth (I went there as a child to visit relatives and I am feeling nostalgic this morning)

I will be arriving in Basel on the 10th of January. I was wondering if i should rent a car, or get the train to Grindelwald? Will there be alot of transfers if i get the train? How will i get to Basel train station?
If i rented a car, would the driving conditions be ok near the mountains? I can get a car for 250 euro. How much would trains cost me?
Thanks for the help!

I'm working here for a couple months and haven't been able to socialize well. People are kind of reserved. Any ideas?

I would really like to take a Swiss vacation this winter for skiing and alpine fun. However, I read in either foreign affairs or the economist that Switzerland is moving to the political right and there have been attacks on foreigners. I am just a nice Canadian girl with a nice American husband who travels on a Czech passport. If we travel over, will we have problems?
Any thoughts on where to go if it is safe?

I trying to figure out where to go in March, and I was thinking about going to Switzerland. I speak some German, and I can get by in Germany just fine with it. But I know Switzerland has a very different dialect. Will Swiss Germans be able to understand me, and will I be able to understand them? I heard they can all speak High German. Is this true? Also, if I went to Geneva, would people there be able to speak German, because I can't speak French.

I am an American living in Zurich, Switzerland. My Wife complains that we never "do anything fun". Ironically, she has lived here her whole life, I have lived here for two years. So, she should really know what there is to do.

I am from New York City. In New York, you don't have to plan things so much because if you go out to buy coffee, usually something funny happens. But Zurich is a really quiet city. So, you really have to seek out activities and plan them.

We have already done the Boat trips of Lake Zurich, Utliberg, the Zoo. So, those are out.

So, what activites can you recommend for me and my wife in Zurich? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
