Headed to Switzerland will be flying into Zurich, eventually going to Bern and into Italy. Would like to ski the Swiss Alps and would like to know closest ski area to these cities and the most convenient way to get there. Any information will be helpful. Thanks!

Okay, I have an update. The new plan is to fly into Rome and out of Zurich through Milan. I am looking for somewhere to ski between Milan and Zurich and not too far our of the way. Any suggestions?

If you travel by train from Milano to Zurich, you will pass the part of Switzerland called "Wallis" there are plenty of skiresorts around, like zermatt, saas fee. If you travel by train you will stop on a place called Brig, from there you have connection to both of the places...
Check out : www.myswitzerland.com
www.zermatt.com
And for train-connections you can have a look on: www.sbb.ch, this page you also can put on english, so it is easyer for you.

Neither of those cities are easily in the Alps yet purely a splash over an hour away via practice. I lived in Switzerland for 5 years and understand a issue approximately it. they are not very enormous cities and purely approximately 3 hours aside via practice. so which you will see the two cities in case you like. The view from the practice, traveling from Zurich to Geneva is extremely effective. for my section i like Zurich, that's a party city with loads of procuring and exciting human beings. Geneva is eye-catching too regardless of the undeniable fact that, exceptionally the lake and the perspectives from the north part of the lake finding into the French Alps. you are able to take the practice into the Alps from the two city for an afternoon or 2 part holiday. It relies upon on what you prefer to do, how long you will stay and how lots money you prefer to spend and how adventurous you're, snowboarding, trekking, partying, procuring, strolling in direction of the previous areas of city...Spend a pair days in Zermatt and notice the Matterhorn...it is so eye-catching, clean and quiet. No vehicles are allowed on the city, it may purely be reached via practice...savour, I prefer i ought to come too, e mail me in case you have any questions.

Don't stay in a city if your plan is to ski.
Andermatt is about 4 hours by train from Milan and then only two to Zurich. I haven't actually skied there, but have been in the summer and heard good things about the skiing.

If you have a stop in Bern, I think that the nearest place for skiing is the famous village of Gstaad. Have a look at the website in the source.
To get from Bern to Gstaad it's about 87.5 km.
Have a nice journey.

I think around Bern you find more and better skiing possibilities. Adelboden is a great place to ski.

Hi, in the canton of Bern I can definitely recommend Adelboden, beautiful beautiful slopes. Check out www.myswitzerland.com and click on the winter section and then "winter resorts" to find out about other places too.
