We are investigating a trip to do the Alta Via 1, and websites use a letter system for rating trails that I do not recognize. We want to be sure not to commit to hikes that are too easy or too difficult.
Any information you have about letter rating system for trails would be helpful. Thank you!

I'll post this in English or else it will get deleted. In my experience, Italian Americans don't speak Italian, cook terrible Italian food and are obsessed with the negative portrayals of the lowest aspects of Italian culture, i.e. the Sopranos etc. Okay it was a great series, I have Italian family, I found it funny but I wouldn't want to emulate those people.......! Has anyone else experienced this with so-called Italian Americans?

Thinking about the Almafi Coast and Tuscany or Lake Como with some day trips to Rome and Venice - but need ideas of good places to stay and see that are nice but don't cost a lot of money.

Are non-believers viewed as inherently bad in Italy? If an atheist tourist visits a church or temple while touring the country, are the expected to bow their heads during prayers, stand during religious songs, etc?

I am a non-Christian who will be visiting the country for school and we will make many visits to churches for cultural and architectural study. Also, will the locals be offended if, in conversation, it comes up that I believe differently than them? Your advice on proper social etiquette while maintaining, as much as possible, my own religious (or non-religious) convictions is appreciated.

Thank you for your polite responses!
