I loved it, people were very kind and funny....the weather was a little bit too cold for me, and i had to go by bike every morning...anyway it's a beautiful country with a multicultural population and people are open minded.

Lovely country and wonderful people.
I've been there many times, mostly due to my job, mainly in the Braabant's region (Breda,Den Bosch,Waalwijk), but also in other sides of Holland. I know it pretty well.
Now it's a longtime that I don't go there and I'm nearly forgetting Nederlandse that at those times I had started learning and understanding.
In Holland towns and sites were giving me a sense of peace, with very clean streets and a lot of green everywhere, nice houses with all those glass windows, without the shutters we have in Italy. The traffic was completely different from here with people driving quietely and not in a so crazy way as we have here, with all those thousands of bikes everywhere, very surprising to me at my first trips there.
People very friendly (a big surprise too for me) and really open minded, with a good propension to amusements (I can't forget the Carnival's days spent there dressed like countrymen - büren, if I still remember well the Dutch word).
I loved also the food there, with the milk and butter having very distinct flavours than here in Italy, the news herrings with onions eaten in the streets in late May/early June, the pannekoek, the river's shrimps. I really have still in my mind all these things and they've popped up immediately when I've read yr question.
