Im looking to travel to Italy mid-Feb. Somewhere with nice scenery, something to do. eg.Como. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

.. secondly, what is the best way to travel between Naples centre and Vesuvius? Taxi? Comfortable bus?

Thirdly, I would prob visit Vesuvios first, then Pompeii.. How do you travel between Pompeii and Vesuvius? Is there a bus service or something?

Forthly.. returning back to Vesuvios... local buses or something (again)?

Me and my girlfriend are intending to to have a short break to Naples visiting Pompeii, mount Vesuvius, and then Capri. Perhaps 1-2 days in Naples area for Pompeii and Vesuvius, and then around 2-3 days in Capri.

Does anyone have any tips on the easiest way of travelling between these destinations.. I don't speak any Italian!

Day 1 (Friday) Flight to Rome.
Day 2 (Sat) Rome: Arrive, train to Florence, bus to Fiesole (relax).
Day 3 (Sun) Florence: visit Uffizi and see David, tour Santa Maria Novella,
climb to the top of the Duomo
Day 4 (Mon) Day trip to Lucca: visit the gardens, Puccini's house, the
churches, walk around the city on the walls
Day 5 (Tues) Day trip to Siena: tour the Duomo, the Civic Center, the shops,
St. Catherine's home
Day 6 (Wed) Rome: ancient city (Forum, Colosseum, Capitoline Hill,
Pantheon)
Day 7 (Thurs) Rome: visit St. Peter's Basilica, St. Peter's tomb, Piazza
Navona, Trevi Fountain

We're staying 4 nights in Fiesole and 2 nights in Rome. Is there anything you might add to this trip?

My son will be traveling to Italy in the fall for a semester there at the Univeristy of Rome, has anyone been there and if so, can you give me a little insight on what he can expect once he's there?
